this is not the whole story and is an example of the justice system failing, with all of the crime in this little corrupt state, they put a grandfather away for a year under an alford plea

bad justice

Will probably never know the whole story. However it takes two to tango, and unfortunately, one paid with his life. The other gets jail. I'm just glad no one else was killed or injured in this infantile battle.

It is interesting how using the term "grandfather" brings out more sympathy in people. How being a grandfather lessens this man's guilt is beyond me. Both parties acted like teenagers, no matter who started the whole silly process, and one died because of reckless behavior from both.

One year in prison for causing the death of someone just does not sound right.

You would think that "Grandpa: would have a better sense of responsibity seeing as he cleary has kids, and grandkids of his own...which were in the car with him. If he really was just "trying to get home" why not slow down, and call 911 from a cell phone? No cell phone in the car? How about exit the highway and drive to the police station? Seems to me like he had a lot of options, and went with the bad one.

I think 1 day in jail would have been plenty

The passengers in both trucks must have been scared to death of the two crazy drivers. If you were just trying to get home with your wife and grandchildren why not pull over and let the man pass you?

The little punk got what he deserved, and should be a lesson to all other punks out on the road. Us old GAP folks still have some fight left in us. GAP (Gramps Against Punks).

The idiot grandfather should have gotten MUCH more jail time for endangering his family during his reckless driving. Ct drivers are the most inconsiderate and least thoughtful drivers in the northeast ( no snow tires, wiper fluid, NEVER clean snow off cars, ALWAYS on cell phone) I can understand the frustration but the grandfather SHOULD be more patient at his age!

So murder/manslaughter penalties are down to a year? Is this Jody's new cost-savings measure?

No justice, no justice at all. He should have gotten 20 years for it. Not only did he kill a man, he risked the lives of all of the passengers, including children. WTF.

The fact that he left the scene tells us all we need to know about this person. On Christmas eve, no less! If he had the human decency to stop and render aid, he wouldn't have been sitting in DOC today.

This scum bag old sucker should have gotten at least 20 years without parole. If I were the family and friends of the deceased this old loser would be safer in jail.

He needs a lot of anger management classes. I wonder if he has also abused his wife and kids, due to his temper. He deserves a lot more than what he will end up serving. I don't feel sorry for him, grandfather or not. He is an imature bully, who needs to grow up, act his age and show his family life's right way to act. Not a very, good teacher to his kids or grandkids. Both men were doing wrong and it would have only taken one of them, to stop this fatal foolishness.
