Here we are 1 game into the season. Congratulations to the boys for executing very well last weekend and getting a W against PS.

But lets look forward and backwards at the same time shall we? Let's discuss some issues that need to be addressed.

This Friday the team will be bused all the way down to Belleville for a Friday night game at 7:30. This is a 5 to 6 hour trip that has been going on for years and has become somewhat of a "tradition". This silliness should never even have gotten started!

There will be the "traditional" stop at the smorgasbord where the boys can stuff themselves before hitting the road for the longer leg of the journey. With their bellies well filled they will try to get a snooze, hold their squirts back, only to arrive in Belleville to fight for the toilets.

To get suited up and warmed up they need to arrive a good hour and a half before game time.

Whose idea is this?

What purpose does this serve?

How many supporters are going to make the trip to cheer and support the team?

Ivalow knows the answers to these questions.(but caring is a whole different issue.)

Pure foolishness and funded by the taxpayers.

There are lots and lots of schools in this state and many are not so dang far from Bolingbrook.

Now lets talk about the coaching staff's appearance. How their appearance represents the team. If I was grading their appearance as a staff instead of papers I would give a big F. Seldom if ever do they dress in anything that could be considered a uniform (or even similar) fashion. Baggy pants here, baggy shorts there, sweats, warm ups, sweatshirts, maybe a polo, old weightroom
t-shirts, whatever.

Here's a hint guys....you are supposed to be representing the team. You are supposed to be representing the school. And you should do so in a respectful and honorable way.

The way they dress IS NOT honorable or resprectful of the team or school. Where I come from the coaches dressed appropriately in a nice way. If any of these coaches need some pointers they should consult a coach who did dress appropriately - coach Acton. He was never too good or busy to put on a nice dress shirt with maybe a nice Raiders sweater over it, usually a tie and some nice slacks.

If I saw some of these present coaches in the parking lot and didn't know who they were I would think I was about to lose my wallet. Yes, plain and simple they look like thugs or some slobs at a beer party.

I am amazed that as principal, Mr. Mitchem let these guys repeatedly appear and represent the school as slobs.
As Supt. he still has the power to do something about it, too. Maybe Fabby Williams will step up if he isn't too scared.

I am truly shocked that AD Anderson has not done his job and reeled the poor dress habits in. Is it too much to have all the coaching staff wear similar Raider polos, sweaters, slacks or warm ups?

The poor appearance and ridiculous travel to Belleville needs to be addressed.

What needs to be addressed is the whiny parents who are against the team carrying on a fun tradition, complaining about VOLUNTEER coaches and calling them slobs. Quit being an a$$ and let the kids enjoy themselves.

I don't think the poster is whining. And I don't think that coaches like Ivalow, the O coach oe the D coach are volunters either. Even if they are why couldn't their be Raider polo shirts provided for them?

And I also agree that the travel to Bellville is excessive and unwarranted.

First, this is only the second year in the "long rivalry", so the raiders don't always play Belleville. This week is the first time we have EVER gone to Belleville. So you don't know what you are talking about.

Second, as a parent Of a player i am watching the game film right now , I taped at the plain field south game and every coach is wearing a black shirt and khaki shorts...every one!!! Ivlow is in all black. What game are you talking about?? Cause this looks pretty good and to me they do look like to be wearing polos. Not one coach is wearing what you described. Are you sure you are not the one doing a little beer party drinking?

Third, I used to work the chain gain back in the day once in a while and I can guarantee you the Acton never ever wore a tie or sweater....ever!!!

Totally Embarrassed is corrct about what they were wearing last season. If they matched at Plainfield S it would be the first time because it was not happening up until the end of last season.

I did not go to Plainfield game so I am not one to question your word parent.

And good job Raiders in last nights game!

I have been following the Raiders for many years. They traditionally have very good teams and it is sometimes very hard to find non-conference teams that will play them in the first or second game. For many teams those two games are the ones that get them into the playoffs. Once they moved into 8A that got even harder. Once they make an agreement to play they usually have at least a 2 year one. Back when my son played they use to travel to Minooka play the second game.

After what , week 2 it usually gets pretty cold in the Chicagoland area? Are the coaches supposed to wear matching winter jackets and cold gear. What and who is paying for that? Budgets are being cut now a days. 10-15 coaches times your ideal outfit, equals less money for equipment and uniforms. Not going to happen. And, I'm pretty sure, actually totally sure that the coaches always wear black anyways so you are still wrong.

As a parent in this community, I am grateful they get these kids now a days off the street and doing something productive like football. And consistently making playoffs every year with today's rif raf is remarkable. Go raiders!

Agreed GO RAIDERS although the coaches could improve their look as they are role models for our players and are representing the school. How they act and interact with the boys is more important than how they dress. But it is all part of the bigger picture of life

Most of the Raiders are uneducated thugs. I would bet that 50% of the team will spend some time in jail within 4 years. word!

And I bet, the Naperville students end up getting high on crack, while daddy is having relations with his secretary and mommy is doing the pool guy.

Every once in awhile there is that all knowing parent who thinks that somehow their opinion counts about a high school team. Here is a news flash...you don't and most certainly your opinion does not.

Who cares how they look to you, if they wore flip flops and Bermuda shorts, why is that your concern? Save the whole representing the school blah blah that's just a screen to hide behind to spew your message of hate.

The IHSA 8A State Champion Bolingbrook Raider football team represented the school well don't you think. Maybe judge them on their cumulative GPA and the hard work they put into the season after school instead of hanging out on the block.

This group of young men will always be known as champions. As for how the coaches dress? Get a life. This is football not some church group bent on "their testimony" of right and wrong. Base a coach on his results just as you should be based on yours.

I was at the Naperville Central game and heard first hand the racial slurs thrown at these kids post game. While I would never damn an entire town, I didn't see many who came to the rescue in defense of right there. Nope they all acted like it didn't happen and I'm sure used some of those same slurs on the way to their cars and on the drive home. Shameful representation of a city that has all but gone bankrupt both spiritually and economically.

You can hide behind your keyboards and type all the hate you can spew but the content of ones character is developed when nobody is watching. You will dodge the mirror until such time as you face your maker and beg for the same quarter you always refused to give.

Black White Yellow is Red White Blue to me. I pray that you will one day see people for who they are and not what you wish them to be.

Don't take any risks when handling your finances today, because there are strange things going on. Someone may not be as straightforward and honest as usual, or can't explain themselves properly, which leads to misunderstandings and false assumptions. If you're spending money, make sure you're charged the right price and given the correct change. And don't let your wallet or purse out of your sight, in case you mislay it or someone nabs it.
