Well, I had read somewhere, where Mayor Daly and Claar somehow knew and liked one another. That was more than enough info for me. Being in Chicago and knowing how crooked things are in the Mayor's office, and knowing that Drewpie and Claar kind of got a long well with one another, was the icing on the cake. Claar..my guess is: "As crooked as they come" JMO Mayor Claar, has certainly been NO help to the new Chief of Police BBPD.

Mayor Roger Claar, has been no help to the family od SP either. Odd that the Mayor of Plainfield, is involved with supporting the family of Lisa (Stebic) Ruttenberg? Me thinks Roger chooses not to step up for fear of being looked at closer for other things????

Come now, although we'd like to blame all of our problems on the government, It's us ourselves who genuinely determine the quality of our lives. We can polarize our views as "absolutely good" and "absolutely evil" as it seems to have been done on this particular poll. We all have done good and evil in our lives. Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. Although he does probably make silly decisions now and again with his own hedonism in mind, specifically perhaps the Bolingbrook Golf course, I'm sure he sincerely does want to do his job well and be seen as a respectable member of the community, and most often times acts in accordance.

And the fact that this Mayor, who runs unopposed almost every election cycle, is sitting on a campaign fund of almost a million dollars, is that him being silly or hedonistic? How about the fact that many of the individuals contributing to that campaign fund are the same ones being awarded village contracts time and time again— silly or hedonistic? Follow the link below to the October 2007 article that Chicago Magazine did on the Mayor. Then, after you've read it, tell me how respectable a member of the community you think he is. http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/Oc...

I said he wants to be seen as one, not that he is. Whether he is or isn't depends on the point of view clearly. Both the writer of the magazine as well as yourself seem to have something greatly against him. I'm not sure what you've been through together, what he's done to you, or how he's backstabbed you but I know for a fact that most humans want the same sorts of things. In that, I know that he's doing the best he can with what he's been raised to be. If someone else would feel a more suitable mayor by all means they should run. And if they exhaust all options and he's still the victor, then reality will be the keypoint and we'll just have to live with that. Life is very simple and all of our fates are within our own hands. If to that fact I believed otherwise, I'd be very wary of myself to make sure I'm not being what they call a 'moronic cynic', by no means referencing anyone specifically of course. http://imomus.livejournal.com/121980.html I realize to some level, we're still operating out of primal means. Law of the Jungle and Dog eat Dog. If a country is too small and weak and a bigger country wants to dominate it, we can cry and scream and pout all that we wish to but that's not going to change the fact that they're the ones stronger and they're going to do as they will. It's hard force, and although there are protocols and procedures to life, as with getting jobs and positions and so on, to some degree that hard force rules everything. Although our standards deem terms as less cowardly or more respectable, using one's resources to their advantage is a smart thing to do throughout all of nature. So to down anyone for using their connections and their advantages, their Nepotism, Favoritism, and what have you doesn't seem very fair. A cheetah can run 70 miles per hour to catch their prey. Should all cheetahs have one leg inhibited and bound so that it will be more fair and respectable? So you see what I'm getting at. In the same way, they say Mayor Claar is exercising his hard force. Negotiations. Intimidation. Those aren't good things but at the end of the day it seems the bottom line is that he's wanting Bolingbrook to be a higher classed place, and I'm not holding that against him. We must understand that he has his good points too and if one refuses to see them, then they're only getting half of the picture. All in all, if I ever find myself unhappy with Bolingbrook, I'll very simply move away and accept life for what it is.

I am unclear as to his is writing this.... but shame on you! You obviously do NOT KNOW THE MAN! I worked for the man almost 7 years... and I watched him build Bolingbrook from the ground up. Since I have gone, I have worked for two County wide offices serving over 23 different communties, and I have yet to meet a man run a City.,Village or Town like Mayor Roger Claar! Now... I am not saying he is perfect...nor easy to work for, but as a Mayor and a person, Lucky you if he is in your corner. So what if he raises money, has a million a dollars... He's an awesome Mayor and the best I have ever met! He knows how to run a community, he pays his staff well and when you get to see his soft side, he is kind and caring and honest.

Miss the point is more like it. If you make people donate to your campaign fund, and then award them village contracts, that is called Pay For Play. It's influence peddling. That's what got Claar kicked off the Tollway Commission by his pal George Ryan. And the fact that he's continuing to do every day in Bolingbrook shows that he is as crooked as they come. The fact that he would build that Rog Mahal golf course of his without even allowing the citizens of Bolingbrook to vote on it in a referendum shows that he does whatever he wants without the slightest concern of what THE PEOPLE think. Bolingbrook has roads that are in such bad repair they are virtually undriveable, but what the heck we've got a beautiful golf course (even if most of the residents of Bolingbrook can't afford to play there.) So please can the Roger as Mother Theresa act -- the guy is a crook. Why else do you think the FBI spent so much time digging through Bolingbrook's affairs? My guess is they weren't here to get his autograph.

Ya know... I kinda like the Mother Theresa comment.(It's kinda funny) The FBI never found anything and that was how many years ago???? Like over 10 years ago....or more. Crook is a strong word. I was defending his role as a Mayor, building a City/Village from the ground up. You can say whatever you want, as a citizen of a community that has grown in propety values like Bolingbrook has/did, I will always respect the man and what he has done. Call me any name you want.

Call me any name you want. 10 Years Ago? My, my we are out of touch. The FBI and Patrick Fitzgerald for the U.S. Justice Department have been investigating the scandal in the Bolingbrook Public Works Department for the last two years. It involved vendors over billing the village to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars to compensate themselves for things like political contributions to Roger's campaign fund. Roger, of course, didn't know anything about that.(Not unlike, Claude Raines character in Casablanca who was shocked, shocked to find out that there was gambling going on at the casino.) But, the point is Patrick Fitzgerald is looking into that and a few other things going on in Bolingbrook, and while the guy isn't very fast when it comes to investigations you can ask Scooter Libby how effective he is in the end.

Bolingbrook has made more progress since Roger Claar has been Mayor than any other town in Illinois. I lived there for 37 years and believe me, I should know!

Bolingbrook epitomizes suburban election failures Monday, February 23, 2009 Last week, Bonnie Kurowski-Alicea, a mild mannered college professor housewife with two children and a consulting business, was thrown off the April 7 Bolingbrook mayoral election ballot. The decision was made by a Bolingbrook election board which adheres to a rotten and unfair suburban Illinois election process, a process which is among the most ethically challenged in the nation. It is the most abused in the six-county suburban Chicago region The election body ruled that Bonnie Kurowski-Alicea ( http://www.bolingbrookmayor.com )/ could not run for office because: 1 -- The Bolingbrook election review board questioned why signatures on her petitions were not written in Cursive 2 -- Some of the petition signatures looked "sloppy" 3 -- Her own signature was challenged as a fraud because, according to the Bolingbrook election review judges, they didn't look the same and therefore she did not sign the petitions herself 4 -- the forms that the Bolingbrook election board gave her to fill out and submit to the village were inaccurate and wrong 5 -- 40 of the people who signed her ballot allegedly were not registered voters But I suspect the real reason why Mrs. Alecia was kicked off the ballot is political. She was running against Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar who is never short of controversies and runs Bolingbrook like a Chicago Machine Ward organization. The judges on the election review board included: Carol Penning, Sandra Swinkunas and Leroy Brown, all elected officials in the village and all political cronies of Mayor Claar.(Penning is the village clerk and Brown and Swinkunas are trustees.) Is Bolingbrook a better community because of Roger Claar ??- you bet. He has devoted most of the last 20+ years to insuring a strong and stable community. The strength of his personality is what propelled Bolingbrook to the city is it today. If you don't like him - run yourself or just vote against him. He's a good person and unbelievably loyal to Bolingbrook.

The only reason she is off the ballot is that Roger Claar is an egomaniac and a sleazeball. Everyone on that election commission was appointed by Roger Claar. Everyone of them is one of his a Republican committemen. Every one of them has had their own campaign expenses paid out of Roger's campaign fund. Who gave Ms. Alicea the petition forms that she was later told were the wrong ones? Village Clerk Carol Penning. If Ms. Alicea was given the wrong forms it was due to the incompetence of the Village Clerk's office. There are two and only two kind of people who vote for Roger -- his cronies and those who are too stupid to know what is really going on. Why do you think he gets less votes than candidates running for library board, even though Roger is always higher on the ballot? Because every year fewer and fewer people can stomach the idea of voting for him. And that's why Roger doesn't dare let anyone else on the ballot in the Mayor's race, because the cowardly little crook knows he would probably lose in a fair contest. If Ms. Alicea is so insignificant a candidate why else would he be so worried about her getting on the ballot. Because Roger knows the truth, even if you don't.
