It speaks for itself! Do you want this man steering our town?
You're taking your news from the Weekly Distorter? Seriously? That's the best source you have? You're about the only one within fifty miles of Joliet that uses that "paper" for anything except lining a bird cage or paper training a dog.

You gotta do better than that. I mean I used to see Roger and Fred Dewalt from Romeoville pounding them back and greeting the faithful at Branmor's before Roger built his club house, but I would never believe it, even though I saw it, if John Gabriel printed it. Talk about your credibility issues.

Why hasn't Claar ever appeared on TV in connection to the Peterson case? I heard he & Drew are still good buddies! Maybe that is why!
Because he is scared. He is what is called a fence sitter... He will fall what ever way the wind blows just like his buddy from Chicago ( Daley )

I would never believe it, even if I saw it, if John Gabriel printed it? I think you just told us exactly how much your own credibility is worth. Absolutely Nil.

Clarify that for me. Exactly how is my credibility worth nil? The fact of the matter is that Gabriel prints his works of libel based on hearsay and rumor. There is not a single piece of actual investigation involved. Don't believe me (and obviously you don't since you say I have no credibility)? Then try to find facts in his stories beyond the names he uses. Go ahead. Get back to me. Let me know if you need any help.

You said I wouldn't believe it, EVEN IF I SAW IT, if John Gabriel wrote about it.

So by your own words, if you saw the sun come up in the east and then John Gabriel wrote about it coming up in the east, you would go around saying it didn't rise in the east because John Gabriel wrote about it. That makes your credibility worth NIL. Because you would deny the truth you witnessed with your own eyes because of your inherent opinion or prejudice of John Gabriel.

It's called logic my friend, you really should try it some time.

P.S.- Perhaps, if you posted examples of his lies or misrepresentations it would help your case. But as of now, we're suppose to believe he lying and distorting the truth because you say he his. Not very compelling evidence, Lookee.

Bringing this post back and getting on topic, I think the village of Bolingbrook has some really great traits and then it kind of goes awry elsewhere. The Promenade and other stores in the area, for instance, I think is good for the town overall. We have a lot of high demand stores, that people will travel for, and in this day, that is important for us.(I don't support all of the stores, but that's me and unimportant.)I think overall the citizens are still primarily good people. I am troubled by the growing amount of people with criminal records, and especially by the growing sex offender registry numbers in Bolingbrook. But people change and grow and everyone makes mistakes. I am also troubled by the number of youths I see playing in the streets and mingling outside houses when we have an active library, park district classes, and a new mall, which I would think would be a better suited environment to be social. A lot of the gyms in the area offer childcare, I think that is really great (I kind of wish I had a child and it benefited me, ha ha). I have a good relationship with one of my neighbors, and no one else really ever smiles back to open the door for conversation. It seemed like we had a lot of foreclosures over the last couple years, and I think while it might have weeded out some unsavory characters, we may have lost a lot of our good neighbors too. I've only been a Bolingbrook resident for 4 maybe it's been almost 5 years now, and I've had my bad experiences with crime (a few years ago we had the house get robbed, multiple cars have been stolen from the driveway on different occasions) but overall things seems to be declining in targeted areas and the ripple effect is felt from that. I don't think everyone has felt the slap of the decline yet, but I fear in time, even a new mall won't be able to reverse these bad deeds spreading like an airborne disease. Sometimes I feel we are, "Gary-bound," but it's not too late. We as citizens can band together, and I hope we do. I like Bolingbrook in spite of the crud that is happening, and I hope it does improve, and ceases to decline in the areas in which it is weak.

Bolingbrook is and always will be a shithole! If you think that the only crime happening in BB is the stuff posted in the local paper you are crazy. Listen to a police scanner and hear all the crime that happens daily!!

Well, I apologize for my lack of spacing. It's been a while since I watched these forums, and I guess my netiquette is a bit rusty. I will improve it and hope it is more to your liking from here on out.

As for Bolingbrook always having been a shithole, I think that is kind of an unfair statement to make. I am not really interested in the specific acts of the crimes that happen everyday. I am, however, interested in hearing solutions for improving Bolingbrook. Maybe we could have a self proclaimed citizen's day where we get together and clean up targeted parts of the city and then all go get a meal. We'd have a better sense of community and we'd get to know each other and really DO something about the issues we have with the community. We can improve things. And eating at a place of business within Bolingbrook helps keep Bolingbrook business around. Obviously money is tight for most right now, but I think it is really important to focus on the issues and try to fix things. Don't get caught up on the small stuff we disagree on, and let other people live like they want to, but on the same hand respect where we live and others will follow. Doesn't anyone have some solutions instead of just adding to the problems? Surly with all these minds combining we can find some solutions. Just somewhere to start and expand from there.

Bolingbrook always pulled together the ten years I was there. Be it a fire, a family in need...clean ups. Perhaps over the time I have left, the village has gotten to big. Bolingbrook was never a shit hole in my book.

Bolingbrook has had it's ups and downs. One thing is correct, Roger only cares about Roger and the decendants of Roger. The schools are truly going down, but where does his family work? And yes, if you don't think he should be there, don't vote for him! As a matter of fact, vote him out. The problem with the (poor black people)...again, that is your mayor. The comment about what it was like growing up in Bolingbrook and the fact that there were gangs and fights near Jewel on Boughton or in the parties at the clubhouse; In the early 90's, I looked at homes in Bolingbrook and it was bad, bad, bad. A lot of HUD vacant properties in all of the townhouse complexes and also duplex areas. THAT WAS BECAUSE MANY OF THEM WERE BEING RENTED OUT AND THE TENANTS/LANDLORDS DID NOT CARE. THEY WERE JUST COLLECTING SUBSIDIZED RENTS. THE PROPERTY VALUES DECLINED TREMENDOUSLY. In the late 90's and early 2000's many of these properties became OWNER-OCCUPIED and things changed for a short period of time. Net, Bolingbrook became a nice place to live again. BUT, NOW IN THE PAST 4-5 YEARS rental properties are on the high again and all the problems of the 90's are BACK AND IN FULL BLOOM. This takes us right back to ROGER...MAKE THE PROPERTIES, TOWNHOUSES, DUPLEXES, SINGLE FAMILY HOMES OWNER-OCCUPIED. I tried to get information from the village under the Freedom of Information Law in regards to the percentage of owner-occupied properties in my area and I was told that it was not available. Figure that out...one of those things that makes you go hm-m-m-m-m-m.

Barb, maybe they would not give you the FOIA because they you would see they are trying to buy the homes across from Menards and finish the construction for more section 8 on your taxpayer dime. FOIA that!

Who is the good candidate that you're referring to? Surely it can't be anyone from the CFBB because they have NO CLUE. For Christ's sake, they don't even know how to read a property tax bill! They file FOIA requests that have NOTHING to do with the village and with people that have NOTHING to do with the information that they are requesting. As someone on another thread said, they are guilty of wasting taxpayer money with their investigations (I use that term lightly since nothing that they've done is remotely close to an investigation).

Before you reply, I suggest that you get a spelling lesson or two or at least research how to use spell check. In the short paragraph above, you have 4 spelling errors!
