I for one will be attending this meeting. The mayor of Bogata thinks that he can do what he wants when he wants. not to mention he brings his child to work all the time. As for the city secretary... isn't she under investigation by the Texas Rangers for opening the ballot boxes before anyone else does? HMMMM...I hope that everyone shows up and supports the city council as the mayor is supposed to.

Why?? A couple of council members dont support him. All he has done is improve the city, cause it to grow, bring in business, and lots and lots of grant money. Hey, if you want to live in a town with a dead beat mayor and a city council that does nothing, move to Talco.

What in the world do you people want ? Mr,Lum has done wonders for Bogota, and what's the big deal if he does bring his Son to the City hall ?
I knew Mr, Lum when he was just a child I also knew his wonderful parents and he came from a very good family and most likely from what I have learned from his track record he wants only the very best for Bogota and one thing for sure unless you can truely prove otherwise { his working to improve Bogota will be very legal.}
You council members need to support him on every avenue of improving Bogota, as well as what is best for the citizens.
There seems to always be a trouble maker in every issue that is not pleasing to the trouble maker.
So thank Mr,Lum for what he has done for you citizens and thank God you were blessed with an honest person such as he to work for the people of Bogota and Red River County.
There are more towns than Talco ????

I was just thinking of a town right down the road, that is shrinking, and whose city council and mayor do nothing to improve the town.

I find it very interesting that a certain city council member waited until AFTER her election was secured to start all this trouble. Im guessing she wont win another re-election. There should be something the citizens of Bogata, those that are tired of her trouble making crap, could do to start a petition to have her removed from office.

The mayor is a good honest person. The Martin woman on the city council is a trouble maker. She must not be getting enough loving attention at home.

I believe we need to get up a petition to remove Ms Martin from the council on the grounds that she is a chronic trouble maker. People like her never do anything constructive. They only tear down.

This post is by the trouble making council member. This is a cowardly, underhanded way to operate.

I am not on the city council. What business is it that he has brought in? The egg farm? How come some businesses in Bogata don't pay city sales taxes? This could be income to the city if it were enforced. I know Mr. Lum also and I used to respect him; however after attending the city council meetings and seeing how disrespectful he is to the council members, I have no regard for him. Attend the meeting and see for yourself. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions.

Well, lets see, yes the egg farm, dollar general, I believe there are 4 or 5 resturants, the downtown sidewalk project, the city wide garage sales are a big hit, supports the FD, which has led to Bogata being arguably the best FD in RRC, police department is good. Like I said, move 10 miles south to Talco of you want a dying city. Bogata has come a long way under Lum.

If your not on the council, you sound like you are right in step with that Martin woman.Ya'll keep stirring th pot, because she wont be back on next election....if she can make it that long.

Elected officials are fair game for slanderers, etc. The city secretary is not an elected official so she is not fair game. She should hold the Martin woman and her followers liable for any slanderous remarks. They need to be very careful with their accusations.

Bogata residents---If you are tired of Martin starting all this trouble, start a petition to have a recall election held. I would do it but I do not live in the city limits. But this is a definate avenue the citizens could take, and show that they are tired of her crap.

Is he disrespectful or is he just having to talk slowly and repeat things for you since he is educated and you clearly are not.

It seems to be that there is much jealousy and plain old stupidity involved here. Mr. Lum has done a tremendous job for the town of Bogata. It seems that the fact that he occasionally brings his child to work makes him caring and responsible. The Martin woman apparently is frustrated because she wants Bogata to remain a small spot in the road. With the present economy, I think Mr. Lum has helped out not just Bogata, but the entire Red River County area. It is time for a petition to begin circulation to remove this Martin troublemaker from the city council. It is apparent that she wants to be the mayor. It is also apparent that she is a very troubled, insecure, pathetic person who wants to tear down anything that would benefit the town. She needs to step down and save herself the embarrassment of making a total fool out of herself. I suggest strongly that she have a mental evaluation. Clearly, she is a few bricks shy of a load! Or, as one of my favorite actors puts it, "Half a bubble off plumb!"

Also, instead of talking down to this council person, apparently, Mr. Lum has to say anything he says to her on a very elementary, simple level. I know some highly educated people that are total idiots. It is a shame that simple English cannot be understood. Mr. Lum, you have the support of the people. Some people will block progress so they can be what they consider, "Top dogs!" What a shame that this person has to act the fool!

The petition needs to get started now. I believe you need 25% of the people who voted for Martin to sign the petition, and possibly an aditional 250 votes( not sure about that though). It then should be presented to the council. If she does not resign, then a general election can be held on the next state uniform election date, as long as its at least 45 days from the date the petition was certified. Get the ball rolling now and you could in theory have her out in November. So, whose gonna start it? Does this idea need to go in the Bogata paper?

I heard the Martin person and two of her followers walked out of the council meeting tonight? This would be great for the city if these three individuals would stay gone.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
