Way to go Marin DA's Office. Love that you're letting murderers off with barely more than a slap on the wrist!

Just because these three didn't plan to kill Casey Adams, doesn't mean that they should not face serious consequences for his death. One year in jail (which is what Mr. Bell received for his role in Mr. Adams death) in exchange for someone's life is ridiculous.

All of the attorneys, sheriff's deputies and other "officials" involved in this case should be ashamed of themselves. Mr. Adams deserved better from all of you!

Perhaps He had a run-in with one of West Marins notorious Clam-Gangs that have made a foothold in the area?

The DA should be ashamed. Anyone who participates in a violent crime should do some serious time IN a state prison. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of deterrent factor in sentencing criminals? Shame on thedefense attorney for splitting hairs. As if striking the first blow that was "not fatal" exonerates the coward. If it were their loved ones' lives that wee lost, it would be a different story. I hope the murdered man's family sues the asses off the perps.

Thanks to all of you who were able to recognize the injustice of all of this. I am Casey's sister and I am tired of the DA treating my brother's case as a misdemeanor. If it had been their families it would have been different. I fought against this plea agreement just as I fought against the one for Bell. We have to go to trial for Martell we might as well have for Marcus as it would have been the same trial. There was absolutely nothing gained from this except it shortened the courts time. Unfortunately, we have to live with this for ever...

cant they be tried as cousining death by committing a crime i dont know the section or wording but they commited ack that led to a death of a person or if thier is a section like that but three to one

if they were steeling a dollar they could all be charged with murder even if only one hit a person and that person died..

{this is not law facts just thougths on what could be a law }

All three should get ten years in prison at a minimum. They admitted they were in a fight but that is no excuse for leniency. The message that their light sentencing sends is that it's OK to kill someone. I don't know how the whole scene played out or who started the fight, but the fact remains that these three individuals took a life and they need severe punishment. I think ten years would be enough to make those clowns respect life.

DA's are like that everywhere, if it had been a cop that had his belt touched or resisted, then he would have gotten the sentence you wanted. But the DA's dont care about people fighting as long as it's not one of their own. Bottom Line. Everyone go back to work.

Hey new DA for Marin;
Tom Brown is not an elected official. He is a deputy in the office.

Live by meth, die by meth. No jury would convict any of them of manslaughter. They would have been aquitted for sure. The perps and the victim were all wasted on alcohol and illegal substances. The defense would have totally trashed the victim's character. You simply take your chances with your life when you mess with drugs.

MarinOne you don't know what your talking about...my brother was a well respected member of the community. He ran an insurance company, he wasn't some loser like the three who killed them...that's all the time I am going to waste on you.

Looks like the message is already getting out that it's okay to jump and beat a man. Look at the Bolinas man who was just jumped and beaten. Luckily he didn't die, I am so glad for his family that they didn't have to endure our suffering. I just wish the DA would have fixed their mistakes on my brother's case and charged Martell, Marcus and Bell appropriately. I mean these guys are getting attempted murder, and the guys who killed my brother get battery? I guess that is what happens when none of the parties are residents of Marin County, the DA doesn't want to waste any of their time.

court history would tell a diffrent story

i saw a court case once werte a person was being charged with auto theft
but it was a drug deal and then auto stolen

plus that saying the law only aplies to people of perfect people

degree of intoxication can be taken to acount in spesific inten crimes
premeditation / not this, is not a case of premeditation from the story in the paper

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Gemini

Maybe it's pre-Christmas tension but people can turn nasty in the blink of an eye today. This is especially likely if they've got a lot on their plate or they think they're very important, and you may have to treat them with kid gloves if you want to avoid getting sucked into a bad-tempered war of words. Some gentle humor may help to rescue the situation before it descends into acrimony.
