1) Don't ride mopeds in busy areas.
2) Yield.

Unfortunate accident that could've been prevented.

"Right-a-way"??? That's right OF way.

Who WRITES these things? Someone needs to go back to journalism school and:

1) learn to get your FACTS straight!
2) learn to spell.
3) properly punctuate.

My sympathies to the family of the person who died.

And how come no charges have been filed??? How about FAILURE TO YIELD?!?!?!?

I realize it was an accident, but it was preventable with a little bit of attention to what we're doing and not so much attention to cell phones, what to cook for dinner, brushing hair, etc, etc, etc...

Condolences to the family of the victim...

It is very sad.

I do believe that the moped is the one breaking the law. There are minimum speed limits on the interstate for a reason. I personally would have yielded the right of way regardless of who was at fault to save a life.

how can you not see a moped coming? the driver of this car was either not paying attention or thought, oh well, that moped is going slow, i can turn before it gets here. man people, PAY ATTENTION! and SLOW DOWN! you just killed a man because you were too impatient/irresponsible.

From what I saw on TV, the moped was NOT on the Interstate. It was on North Main St.

No charges were filed probably because it was not investigated by the State Troopers. My sister was involved in an accident almost a year ago. She was headed north into columbia approaching a yellow light she went through the light and a woman driving a Dodge Nitro that was supposed to "yield the right of way" because she was either a) turning left or b) making an illegal u-turn. She t-boned my sister knocking her into a ditch totalling her Taurus. Highway patrol did not come. Firefighters came and God bless them because my sister was pinned in the car. My sisters, mother, and daughter were in the car. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, however, they had to go to the hospital for lacerations and other minor things. The police showed up the same time I did! One officer even asked me was I involved in the wreck. There was a gentlman there a witness that said he saw what happened the man was asked to leave and they never followed up. The cops interviewed the Nitro owner and she told them my sister she thought she was clear and my sister ran the red light hitting her passenger side. NO ONE in my sister's vehicle was ever interviewed, not even at the hospital. We called the next day to follow up and was told there was not one. When one was finally on file it faulted my sister for failure to yield the right away, yet she was not ticketed. The funny thing is that the drew the accident but we have photos showing both my sister's front bumper and the Nitro's passenger side unscathed. Sorry for the long story but just a little irritated that no one is giving punishment for wreckless driving.

The title says they were on I20 near North Main. The story says they were on North Main near I20. I believe the latter is correct.

Have you ever thought that it is still under investigation, after all it only happened a few hours ago, and that charges may be pending? Someone did die here and the police have to follow up on everything before they make a charge. It does say in the story no charges have been AT THIS TIME! That does not mean that they won't ever be charged!

Sorry for the families. Mopeds should not be on the streets. These people using them have DUI`s, why should they be allowed to drive a moped? We as tax payers need to do something to stop this. Mopeds are an accident waiting to happen. Also the riding lawnmowers. It is like... OK, I can drink and drive...get caught...oops, loose my lience... get me a moped or a lawnmower.... no problem.....Still drink and drive.... Hello, wake up.

Bicycles we will all have soon $10.00 dollars a gallon coming thats if you can buy it. In 1991 82 cents a gallon. How much has consumption gone up in 17 years. Cars and trucks got terrible gas mileage back then. today they are more fuel efficient.

I did not like the article saying a human died, was cleaned up and traffic was moving. The article portrays WLTX as disrespectful and demeaning to the value of human life. I do not know either party involve, but think it was distasteful and the last portion should have been edited out.

LOOK...... before you "press" your gas pedal! This is a technique, incorporated with the DMV rules (remember them), that limit or diminish collision with other things: IE: Trucks, cars, newspaper stands and even low flying planes or birds..... for goodness sake "LOOK" before you accelerate! YOUR LIFE, may depend on it. We ALL want to get back home safely! God be with you and both these families during this time of loss.

Who said he was driving a moped because he lost his license to DUI? That is an assumption on your part and you know what they say about assuming.
