Wally Wally Wally, what would Uncle Charley think if he saw how you treated the senior citizens? Such a stupid comment as this doesn't deserve any further comment.

Wally be happy already!!!;) I actually have a few family members who go there for a few months in the winter and they always rave about how beautiful it is. They are senior citizens and they are soooo sweet, really! Also, unless I'm mistaken, the economy in Lake Havasu is greatly boosted by all the tourists and snowbirds etc. So if this is correct then you might not want them to go too quickly. Just wondering...what drives you crazy about them? Are they rude? I can understand the college kids and the drunks but they can't all be drunks, the ones I know don't drink at all, I just don't see them all being these inconsiderate people. Then again I've never been there and have not experienced it so these are just my thoughts:)

The definition of a Snowbird is nothing more than a seasonal infestation of Yankees (as well as Midwestern sodomites and Canadians) to sunny warm states in the South such as Arizona. A snowbird is also defined as an elderly dumb shit that migrates down to the Southwest to winter when their natural habitat of New York, Ohio, or Michigan, etc. is too cold for them. Their migration begins in early September and lasts until April. Way too long.

You can spot a snowbird by it's white or graying hair color (or sometimes light blue or orange form a dye job gone bad), it's pastel colored clothes, use of sweaters, socks in sandals or white tennis shoes, dark colored over sized sun glasses, and of course it's irritating accents. They tend to drive over sized gas guzzling cars such as Lincolns and big Suvs' because they are retired and have the money to spend. If they had any class at all they would go to Palm Springs where the "real" snowbirds go. Here in Havazoo they are nothing more than "want to be snowbirds"!

Typically known to drive well under the normal speed in traffic,(about 35 MPH below and always in the passing lane) and prone to rubbernecking and running stop signs therefore making places such as Arizona the traffic accident capital of the US. You might get lucky and get stuck behind one that is under 55 but highly unlikely. Other than making driving conditions terrible for Native Arizonians and other South westerners, snowbirds also infest restaurants, post offices, stores, doctor's office's by the droves making it next to impossible to get in during the winter months. There like human cholesterol plugging up the isles? They in turn complain about how crowed it is and how they have to wait in line.

Even though tourist traps love snowbirds because of the revenue they bring, most people who are native to the states the snowbirds visit hate them with a passion and wish they'd go home. Pity the poor waitress that walks away with her nickel tip on a thirty-five dollar dinner.

Wally, I see you came up with yet another name this evening. No surprise there...nor is your yet again ignorant rant of a post. I pray you really aren't as stupid as you appear and you just like to start a good debate. The problem is you don't bring to the table the sense God gave a piss ant. Therefore, no debate for you.

It's just that, a debate. God Bless America and our constitution for freedom of speach and the right to keep and bear arms God help us if we ever loose them.
Next time you look over your property tax bill, ask yourself what ever happened to "No Taxation Without Representation"? I know I think about it everytime I see 6 LHC workers standing around taking a 3 hour smoke break.Or 3 of them sitting on milk crates painting one fire hydrant.
Sorry to get off the snowbird rant.

that guy from toledo sure knows how to make friends. why are you affraid to list your real name. snowbirds and other visitors who come to havasu actually help your economy. what they drive is their concern as they are paying the gas not you. young kids have interesting hair colors too. why do you care what someone wears? arizona is certainly not the accident capital of the world, i guess you have not lived in florida?? kids actually have more accidents than the elderly. rather they drive slow than speed. ask the waitresses drs and other service persons if they mind making all that extra money with the snowbirds. nickle tip on a 35 dollar dinner, that was you wasnt it?? most seniors tip about 15 percent. are you sure your not a ten year old???

Walter, I don't mind pointing out how your thinking is flawed, but I don't use personal attacks. Your personal attacks just give you that much less creditability. Good luck, you're going to need it if these replies are the best you can do.

I agree that the snowbirds keep the economy going, but they come in to this town, with no respect for the locals. They drive under the speed limit (causing traffic) that a small town should not have. They go in to restaurants and steal things off the tables. Are always looking for a deal, ordering water with extra lemons and sugar to make lemonade so they dont have to pay for it. They tip horrible. I hear and see stories about the way they treat there servers. Im sorry but 15% dcoes not cut it if they recieved good service. Its not like they rack up big tabs any ways, so whats an extra couple of bucks to make things right? Servers in Arizona make no more than 4.25 an hour. They have to tip out the bussers and bartenders, and food runners at the end of the night, which comes out to be about 10%. So a server walking home with 5% at the end of the day is un acceptable. Normal people tip anywhere from 18% to 30%. If the snowbirds werent so rude and cheap, they would be greeted with open arms. Someone correct me if im wrong.

OK, Your wrong on so many levels it's hard to know where to start. I'll start here:

Effective January 1, 2009, Arizona’s minimum wage will be $7.25 per hour. The
minimum wage will be increased again on January 1, 2010, and increased annually every
successive January 1st by the increase in the cost of living.

http://www.ica.state.az.us/docs/minimumWage/m...

When eating in restaurants around the United States, most people perceive the 15% tip as the norm.

Google,
I've heard from someone that works for tips that the employer can pays them less because of the tips. I have heard this from more than one person even though the minimum wage may be higher. For the snowbird lovers remember most of these old folks are old school and have CCW's so don't give them to much of a hassle, they haven't much too loose.

Rebelwoc,

What you heard is true, at least in Arizona, and does not contradict the information in the links that I posted. Arizona has a MINIMUM wage of $7.25 per hour, of which a MAXIMUM of $3.00 per hour can be gratuities (tips). If the total tips received plus the $4.25 the employer is required to pay do not total $7.25 per hour minimum the employer makes up the difference.

For the server to make up the difference between the $4.25 per hr. that the employer pays and the $7.25 minimum wage. The server needs to average only $3.00 in tips every hour. Using the 15% example given previously that would mean that only 4 meals at $5.00 each, or one meal at $20.00 needs to be served and tips received each hour. That should not be a daunting task. If the establishment is not doing more business than that it won't be in business very long. My advice, in that case, would be either start looking for another job or figure out how to get more butts in the booth.

Being pleasant and attentive might be worth a try, it cost nothing and could be very rewarding. Pulling a gun, not so much!

18 to 20% is what should be given as a gratuity. 4.25 AN HOUR!! Plus Tipping out a busser, Food Runner, a bartender and a Host. If you go into a semi nice to a nice restaunt expect that part of the expierence is the good service, so expect to take care of your servers.it is not the 70's anymore. Servers in this town are sick of the people in this town that tip less than 18%. then having a normal person come in and give 25%, which means nothing, because all it is doing is covering what was lost in the last table. Im not saying servers make bad money, because they dont, but they take pride in giving good service, and 15% gratuities is taken as a slap in the face. It makes them think they did a horrible job and taking care of your dining experience.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aries

It's one of those days when you'd be wise to mind your Ps and Qs if you want to avoid putting both feet in it or feeling like a fool. The trouble is that you're finding it hard to think before you speak, and you're rushing into situations without thinking about the possible consequences. All you can do is to apologize and try your hardest not to let it happen again.
