I am fairly certain that he did not intentionally cause this horrible accident. He wasn't drinking, on the phone or on any drugs. This was an accident and one any one of us are capable of causing by not paying good enough attention to the road (less the semi truck). If I had to bet, he is in his own hell right now knowing that he caused the biggest fatal crash in Oklahoma and killing 10 people. What else could you possibly charge him with?? I am in no way taking up for him and excusing him for this tragedy, but I just think people on the other forums are being pretty tough on him. I can't even say that I would ever forgive him if the deceased were people I knew and loved, but just throwing a thought out there.

If you think 3-6 weeks for lab results are a bit much, think of how much more swamped the labs are going to be when they start processing DNA harvested from every little misdemeanor case.

So, if you were driving down 244 toward downtown...and you switched lanes... gave your signal ... looked ... but missed that car in your blind spot.. and you caused a bad wreck... you were hurt but not seriously... but the family in the other car died...you would want to be charged with a crime?

Just curious.....when, how, and why did the NTSB get involved in a traffic collision being investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol?

And what purpose would it serve? The man is 76 years old. Granted, too much truck for a man of that age, but would serve no purpose in locking him up.

I'd almost bet he's so devastated and grief stricken that his truck driving days are over.

Wound be nice to get a statement out of him though.

This has got to be the most tragic thing to happen in Okla since the OKC bombing.

I'm sure he didn't do it intentionally and unless he was drinking or on drugs he shouldn't be charged for a crime. He should be ticketed for failing to yield or whatever. He will have to live with this mistake for the rest of his days. ALL drivers make mistakes, nobody that drives can't say they haven't pulled out in front of somebody, driven too slow or too fast or at some point caused or almost caused a wreck. Words can't describe the pain the families are feeling. Tragic accidents happen and it is just really sad for everyone.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IT IS LIKE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO COME HOME ONLY TO BE CALLED BY THE HOSPITAL AND TOLD THAT THERE WAS A TRAGIC ACCIDENT AND MY AUNT AND UNCLE DID NOT MAKE IT AND MY 12 YR OLD COUSIN IS FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE? OR FOR COPS TO SHOW UP AT MY COUSINS HOUSE ONLY TO TELL THEM THIER PARENTS WERE KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT? I would like to know why the company he was driving the truck for would allow a 76 year old to do so?? That's my biggest problem with this! It's a fact that an older person's reflexes are not as good as they used to be.!! I'm not saying every person 70 plus shouldn't drive, that would depend on the individual , but maybe testing the elderly before they can get their driver's licenses would be a good idea!!
I definitely think this 76 year old man had NO business driving a semi-truck for a company and the company should be at fault too! Just my opinion!!

It's called age discrimination and it's against the law...( I agree with you though)

Considering the company now will be taking the liability of this truck driver for this massive catastrophe.

Sandra I completely agree with you in your being upset. My wife was killed the exact same way and no words can express how devistating it has been for me to see the exact same thing happen all over again to another family.

I have lost a lot of sleep lately due to concern for the families of the deceased and just knowing how I felt when I was informed of the circumstances and even saw it up front and in a front row seat after it happend.

Words cant express my sympathy and my knowing a 12 year old was involved just ripped me apart and kept waiting to hear word on her. I do thank God she made it this far but mourn for her loosing both her parents.

This is a horrible thing to go through for the family so I would simply and respectfuly ask out of respect for the family please everyone keep those still stuggling to recover in your prayers and pray for the families of the deceased.

And Michelle just to comment only on your response. There is no excuse for this catastrophe but to hold the mans age as the contributing factor is not the answer. Yes we are hearing more and more elderly people having the most devistating accidents but the truth is he could have been a 21 year old and still made the same accident.

I have seen 80 year olds that could hold their own against 18 year olds though because they keep in shape.

None the less this was tragic and I pray for everyone involved

SOMETHING NEED TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS SEMI ANY WAY, THEY DRIVE TO FAST AND THEY CAN NOT STOP. THE WILL ROGERS TURNPIKE HAS HAD TO MANY WRECKS ON IT, WITH SEMI. I WAS IN A WRECK ON THE WILL ROGERS BACK IN 2006, WITH 2 SEMI AND 4 CARS. THE SEMI DRIVER DID NOT STOP AND HIT OTHER SEMI, WHICH WE WERE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE SEMI DRIVER WHO DID NOT STOP LOST HIS LIFE. NOBODY KNOW WHAT THOSE PEOPLE WENT THRU THERE THAT MADE IT THRU THAT. YOU WILL NEVER FORGET THAT SOUND, YOU ARE SCARED WHEN A SEMI IS AROUND YOU. DON"T JUDGE THAT MAN THAT SURVIVED THE ACCIDENT. SOME THING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THERE SPEED AND ON THAT WILL ROGERS TURNPIKE.

Properly adjusted mirrors and there is no blind spot if you have a rear view mirror.

There are only blind spots if you don't have your side view mirrors adjusted properly.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Pisces

Someone is extremely headstrong and defiant today, and there's every chance that you're the one fitting this description. The more others are trying to make you behave yourself or do what they want, the more determined you'll be to do the exact opposite. Well, it is a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse in emotional Cancer, so you're excused! Show them that you're an individual in your own right without going completely overboard about it, because that will cause trouble. Then once you've got all that off your chest you can relax and look forward to a really Happy New Year!
