I did quit becouse every time some inmate gets caught breaking the rules they cry to staff about how they can not afford to lose their good time. and then we have family members bringing in dope. yes as a tax payer I do pay them so much a month to be there. so tell me again how they have it to so hard. at the NOCC they have atleast 3 cable TV's in each buildings day rooms. they have Pool tables and ping pong tables and foose ball tables. they can paly horse shoes. and card and board games so please again tell me how they have it so bad....

The person that wrote this sure got it right. What I do not understand is why would anyone want to have contact or go back to having a relationship with someone that beat them? Apparently beat them so badly that they ended up in prison for two years. That is ashame to have someone that should love you, beat you instead. I can only imagine that low self esteme would cause another humanbeing to want another that has no respect for their life.

Good luck, you're going to need it if you return to a relationship with another person that beat you.

First things first, it's prison. Yes I know, it's minimum security. There are violent offenders and non-violent offenders. There are inmates that love the Vinita prison and inmates that hate it. The truth is, I work there, i see inmates that come in every week and are happy as can be to be there. They always tell me they here good things in prison about Vinita, that they request to go there if possible. We have a nickname for our prison in Vinita, we call it "Camp Cupcake". The reason being is that its a cake walk, its a open yard, the food is better than almost any other prison in oklahoma, I know this because I eat there every morning! There is AC and heat in every unit, sometimes we might have a problem with some equipment but we have educated inmates that fix the problem. There are plenty of places out in public that have problems with AC and heat. Well so does vinita prison! All of the inmates can file grievances at anytime. They all have a mattress, sheet, blanket and pillow. They can goto our store and buy snacks. We have jobs that allow the inmates to learn new trades and help better themselves. All in all, the Vinita prison is a joke when it comes to being classified in a "prison" catagory. All of the inmates agree to it. BUT, you do the crime you do the time.

If I were every incarcerated for any reason, I would be hoping and praying to be sent to Vinita! I've seen other facilities, NO THANKS!

the staff at vinita have always been very helpful and pleasent to me and my family,it is a very clean and well kept place,i feel very comfotable visiting there. keep up the good work.

I do understand, just that people that have done much worse crimes have done much less time. As bad and as wrong as it seems, he shouldn't get the same if not more time than a person that rapes someone or manslauder for that matter. You almost sound like his ex, I have a few words to say to you if you care to call me.

ABSOLUTELY. I was so upset with myself simply for holding onto a boyfriend as long as I did that was emotionally abusive. If someone is hurting you, physically or emotionally, they DO NOT LOVE you. They dont even like you!! Don't let them make you feel as if you can't do better. Be smarter than that. And if you don't want to get a divorce, maybe you shouldn't have married someone who beats you for christ's sakes.

you know what amber this is a very serious crime, i can not believe that you are upset becasue they wont let you see this man. this is man is there because he beat you and if he did not end up there . you would probaly be in a body bag by now. count your blessings and move on have more respect for yourself and do you have kids if you have kids move on for the kids because your kids know what you teach them and do you want to teach your girls that it is alright for a man to beat them long as they keep the marriage togather. or do you want to teach the boys that is is alright to beat your woman because dad did it. get it togather move on.

hello my husband is in vinita for selling drugs he was first in granite oklahoma and that was no walk in the park. i hate that my husband is in prison but vinita beats where he was at. the staff there is very nice each time we visit we have a comfortable visit and yes there is air and heat there and the place is well kept.

I'm upset to hear how easy vinita is. I figured it would be but my ex just arrived there a few weeks ago and I was hoping it would be bad. I dont wish harm on anyone but i feel like justice isnt fully served b/c it is not that bad and they can adjust easy in vinita without much suffering.

I've been on both sides of this issue. A wife of a correctional officer in Texas & a mother of a grown child in prison. It's hard on the convicted & the officer (Or hired work.)
Yes, we believe the crime deserves the punishment. Yes we know we (the state) foot the bill. But in defense of the mother, I know what the state pays for & what it won't pay for. These are not comfortable places to stay, but no one thinks about this until they are incarcerated.
As a mother who has walked this path, it will rip out your heart. But you know your child has to walk this path. Plain & simple. That doesn't stop her dedication to her child.
As a wife of a retired Texas Correctional officer, I understand their hell in the system. They see most inmates don't deserve anything they get. Texas is a better state to serve time & they do get less time for their crimes compared to Oklahoma. I've seen how working inside the Units can cause people to become hard, just like the inmates that are serving time. It's a hell of a place to be, whether working as a free person or inmate.
I sent my child funds for snacks AND toilet paper, soap, shampoo & tee shirts. Jails issue the basics out once a week & things are stolen, or used up way before they can get more. Prisons a a bit better. I said a bit better.
There will always be two sides to every story. But to rip up the mother above or any other mother is insensitive & cold hearted. She knows her child's story & why they are instituted. She loves & no one has that right to berate her for doing so.
Posting your stance on this subject is fine, but don't slam a mother or tell her she didn't do her job correctly. People make their own choices whether they had an abusive childhood or whatever their reasons are. We make our own beds for good or bad.
As for inmates being cold, I hope they can get blankets & heat soon as Winter is setting in. The State moves when it moves and it can be slow in coming.
If you want Oklahoma or any state for that matter to lesson it's punishment time, do something other than write posts on a forum. Our laws are made by us & our representatives. Politicians can fight for us if it benefits them & their constituents. They may pick & choose their battles, but that's just how it is, in life. Do something positive, but forums don't do much in the political world. Actions do.
The wife of the inmate that was the victim, I actually have seen this over & over. Until she can believe she deserves better or understands her husband can't or won't change she will stay in the mode she is in.
She can't see what others see. She still has faith. She believes her marriage can be healed. Don't berate her either. I for one wouldn't do what she is doing. But I won't put her down for wanting what she believes to be the right thing to do. Again, she makes her own choices. I won't beat her up for it and no one should either.
Nobody has the perfect wisdom. Hopefully we learn & grow. We just try to respect each other & hopefully try to be polite when someone reaches out in pain.
Being nasty on forums isn't a mature way to handle our views. We are all unique & hopefully we can exchange ideas that aren't vulgar & petty. Remember the other person you are speaking to bleeds red, too.

my husband has been away from his family for a year for a stupid crime these people are not evil i have 2 children and i feel like im the one paying for his crime
