Commissioner Thacker has the right idea and I believe him to have the best interests in mind for the people he serves. Good job. I have seen many improvements in the service for my area.

Alot of us wish Kirk had come out publicly in support of Cole Butler. He talked one on one with lots of folks in support of Cole but never saw him in a public venue come out in support. Kirk does a great job for his district. I'm in district 2 and pleased with Mike Helm here. Mike did come out in public venues supporting Cole many times. Again, Kirk is a good man and a very good commissioner and I agree with Sammy about his dedication to his people in the district.

Just heard that the County settled the lawsuit filed involving the deputy involved in the double-fatality collision. Obviously, it takes the three county commissioners to approve such a settlement. Any idea what the settlement was and.....why has this settlement been a secret from the taxpayers? Haven't seen anything in the Progress about this.....
u need 2 talk 2 the da's office about settlements, and it only takes 2 out of 3 commissioners to make a vote pass. the progress is part of the political mouth piece of the dems. havent u noticed the way they attack the republicans and not the dems. if u cant c that u r blind!

I can see that the Progress is the voice of the political machine...that is very obvious. And..if 2 of the 3 commissioners can agree to a settlement, then I would like to know who made that decision and how much it costs the taxpayers. Two of the three commissioners are Repubicans...Helm and Thacker. The simple question is: How much did this settlement cost the taxpayers of Rogers County?
Thacker is democrat
When did he change? |
He changed then....because at the last election, he was Republican, along with Helm. |
I'm confused! Did you read #6 |
I am positive that Kirk Thacker was Republican, along with Mike Helm, during the last election. Is there a location where that could be checked? |
I know he was. |
It really doesn't matter whether Kirk Thacker is a Republican or Democrat. What does matter is it appears that our commissioners, Republican and Democrat, seem to have a secret to keep from the taxpayers when it comes to a settlement reached on a patrol car collision. A settlement paid for with taxpayer dollars. If this is the way any of the commissioners think business should be done then it's time to vote all of them out, when they come up for re-election.

Just looked at the OSCN and saw the settlement entry. That particular incident, which obviously cost the taxpayers some bucks, went away very quietly. No dollar amount because the case is sealed. I don't blame the commissioners for settling the case. The sheriff's office very obviously did not do their job which costs us all. Are the commissioners doing everything they can when it comes to making sure all of our citizens are being properly protected? Those living in the city limits of Claremore, Owasso, Catoosa, ect. could care less if we, in rural Rogers County have protection. Would love to know how the commissioners are going to deal with the sheriff-elect to improve law enforcment when he is sworn in.

Hello all, my name is Kirt Thacker,Rogers County Commissioner Dist.3. I am a republican, was a republican when I ran and am still a republican. When it comes to hiding something you are incorrect when you say that. There are laws that protect the innocent as well as the guilty,we are not allowed to speak on matters that are sealed, they are sealed by the courts, not us.Since the present sitting board of commissioners have taken office,we have provided the most transparent county government,in my opinion, since 1907.Anyone that knows me very well can tell you that is pure unadulterated truth. If you would really like to know what we do everyday you are welcome to contact me at the Courthouse .Thank you and keep posting, it is very interesting.

I have no idea why it says Houston,TX.I am in Inola.

Hang in there Kirt. Theres some interesting things being discussed nowdays. Don't know where in the world the democrat thing came from.
Sammy,I believe the democrat thing came in when I, on occasion, vote with Dan Delozier on some agenda items.I will always vote on what I believe is best for the county, regardless of party politics.
And it takes that to get business done in a timely manner. If you wait on just party line to vote, business stalls. Nice touch to invite people in again to see how it works. At least the Claremore paper comes and reports.

Glad to see you clear up the political affiliation question Kirt. Not that it made any difference. As far as the sealed settlement deal on the RCSO lawsuit, I can understand the Court sealing the case and you can't do anything about that. What I would like to know is how the situation with the deputy was dealt with? The CLEET rules are very clear when a law enforcement officer has to get certified to remain in a patrol status. If this was not done, why was the administration of the sheriff's office not dealt with swiftly? That is what they were paid to do, take care of the business of the office. For the past 12 years we have heard the horror stories and alot of us are tired of hearing them. You and the other two commissioners are the "Harry Truman" of the County and the buck stops with you. If the sheriff is not doing his job, we expect you to take some action.
How are you, and the other two commissioners, going to respond to the sheriff-elect when he gives you the same "no response" attitude that Prather has done for so long? I know that you and Mike Helm had asked for a number of things from Prather, regarding the fatal collision, and he ignored your requests like you were some kind of bothersome gnats flying around his head. It would be nice to have someone to oversee the sheriff's office to insure that the public can trust them again. I don't know if that is possible with Walton being Prather's selection for the job. I know of 17,000 other voters that feel the same way that I do because we darn sure didn't vote for Scott Walton. It's time to stand up and force the sheriff's office to do it's job, or expose why they are not.
