I think that the people who own the property should get to decide how it is used. They are making their living from the land. If they want to develop it that way it is there business. Plus the taxes would benifit the county.

but after doing a little bit of reading i found this nice tidbit information..

http://www.wtop.com/...

but in case you dont want to click on the link, let me break it down for you..

1.$9.2 million in tax revenues OVER 20 YEARS

2.$200 million project would create 150 TEMPORARY construction jobs. When completed, the wind farm would employ 10 to 15 full-time workers.(wow, 10-15 brand new full time government jobs)

at the end of the day it is a moronic investment into something that will destroy one of the areas best features, get educated people... we are being taken on a ride by the obama-GE administration

Again shouldn't the people who own the property get to decide what they do with it. While your enjoying the view, they pay the taxes, maintain the fences, and try to make some sort of living with it. If you read the study carefully, it is very conservative about how much money will be brought in. And where do you think all the goods and services will come from. It will be a substantial boost to the local economy during construction. And at a time when the teachers are trying to find money for a raise, and the county is struggling to pay for services, a 600,000 boost in property taxes alone the first year without the county spending a cent is a good deal.

I think that the folks who don't want to look at the Wind Turbines have a legitimate complaint. They don't want to look at them. The other claims of "vibration" damages to people's health or that of wildlife or the water supply are unsubstantiated rumors at best and bogus fabrications at their worst. The central question is this: Is the attempt to prevent a private property owner from making a lawful use of his property an "unlawful taking" under the constitution and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia? Is it legal for the government to pass an anti-windmill ordinance after a project is proposed?

When you pay my taxes I'll listen to your opinions. People don't come to Bluefield to see
East River Mountain but they might show up to see a wind farm.

That still might work out even temporaly...You have people coming in to do that job but they are helping the local economy buy spending the money they earn there for as long as the job last.

Alternative energy has to start somewhere and sacrifices must be made for our future generations. Right now coal provides most of our engery in WV and VA but it is a Fossil fuel source so sooner or later it will not be here but wind will. I want to see the data on the environment and the animals in the area(besides deer) instead of people living along the boundaries and people viewing the mountain from 460.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Aquarius

Diplomacy is your middle name today, so make the most of it while it lasts. It will be just what you need if you've been waiting for the right time to raise a tricky topic with you-know-who, and it will also come in handy if you're caught up in a potentially sensitive conversation with someone and you want to extricate yourself as smoothly as possible.
