I would like to see a Sheriff that we can all look at as a role model. The sheriff of a town holds a position of authority that should be respected and revered. We have had a sheriff the past 16 years that people have lost all respect for due to his own actions within the community. I am ready to see how a real leader will handle this department and get the deputy's in line and actually working. I am ready to see how a real jail should be ran. I have already seen how George has ran the jail... he ran it right into the ground! I don't want anymore of my tax dollars going to repair the jail I would rather see my tax dollars going to hire more jailers to keep the jail population uneder control. George stated that he didn't need all the bells and whistles to run a good department but the fact is is that he has all the bells and whistles he just doesn't know how or he just refuses to use them! Our jail has all you could ask for in a jail and George doesn't even do the basic lock down. When an inmate is left in charge of the control room something is really lacking and the only one to blame is the sheriff. And yes I believe that an inmate was running the controls simply because I have had friends tell me that they have been to the jail for one reason or another and actually felt uncomfortable because the inmates were just wondering around the jail. So I am looking for pretty much everything to change in the sheriff's department.

A change at the top is the 1st change needed and thereafter the other heads may roll as appropriate. Let's vote George OUT. It's past time for a true chief elected law enforcement professional. I live in unincorporated Fannin and a sheriff's car never rides by my house. Time for a new sheriff is here and now. Let's get out and vote Kirby to make it happen.

we need a real sheriff-with no excess baggage working under him-(wife-half brother-relatives-in-laws-etc) . get rid of the whore-hoppers who use the uniform and badge just to get women. find some good decent deputies who take pride in their job.Start clean-stay clean- Be a leader.Earn everyone's respect. treat 'em all the same. the community needs a sheriff they can depend on- we haven't had that in many decades.

we need a sheriff who dosent let his others run the dep. lynn panter is a joke for a cop thank god we finally got rid of Rick Landress whos job was to take women to his camper for his private partys while on the clock and there is proof to this and george and his fine bunch of mens motto is ( I AM THE LAW ) and they will do as the please even if they investigate the shooting of a man whos wife shot him and by the way Landress was dateing this woman as well and found her not at fault...... there is more to come

George and dog fighter are personal friends. They are neighbors but george always swept it under the rug.Now what george? What else have the good old boys swept under the rug. Its time for a change anybody agree?

I have never heard anything like this about Landress so please tell me the names of the people involved.. I want to look this up for myself..

I know Rick Landress and I would be shocked to find out this is true, I know he does not work for the county anymore, but he was always a great cop. I know he works for another county.

well when the former chief deputy is having to steal from Wal-Mart wtf??? I would say Houston you have a problem. Davie come clean, why did you have to steal??? was it you have no money or was it your way of acting out to get everyones attention?? only you know tell us, so we can help you, if you have a new sheriff maybe he will pay you enough so you do not have to steal and well never mind I do not think the citizens want another theif working for the county, heaven knows there is already enough and they still have that girl at 911 who stole from her former boss too, I guess the main requirment on a job app now is you have to be crooked...watch out all you honest employees you will loose your job!!!

How about somebody at the department that cares that Austin Hooper is missing! What if it were their kid! All they care about is their campaign, well do your job and help this family!

I find this hard to believe and if you do not have the balls to state names then it is not true and just an attack on Landress, he is a wonderful man and you are probally just a woman he would not go out with. so cough it up or shut up.

when evidence is made up by lies & false charges & the chief (Diane Davis) investigator uses the magistrate judge & his "official" office to obtain warrants without a hearing before getting all the story is a miscarrage of justice. These warrants were dropped by the D.A. after his office heard all of the story. The shame of this is having to hire a lawyer for a few thousand dollars to prove the sheriff's dept. & mag. judge are not doing the job you hired them for, no vote for them for me & my family, hope you & yours have the money to pay out if you get accused of something you didn't do,if not theres always jail & a ruined future from a criminal history. what the hell happened to the oath of office they all took & swore to uphold??? we need an honest,fair system, we don't have that now in fannin county, after the election maybe we will.
