Criminals are actualy screwing up their own credit, in order to claim identity theft and get the police to help them. Criminals are using the personally identitfying information of an unsuspecting victim/person and their their own criminal SS# to make it look like the victim person is using the criminals SS#. A criminal can get his/her SS# changed after causing themselves such problems.
I would not be surpised if the man in this story was the drunk and was trying to get away with it by saying that some drunk was stealing his identity. The man in this story probably stole someones identity (a patient, since he worked in health care), claimed to be the patient, and claimed that the drunk (really himself) was stealing his identity. Then when he gets his SS# changed because of "identity theft" he gets away with being the drunk and possble murderer, confuses police etc..
Law Enforcement needs to watch out for this.
