But at our school, we had about 50 kids recover from it.

What people don't realize is there are one or 2 deaths reported for every 10-15 that are not... most with underlying health issues... but still with the disease.

WHY doesn't the government want to know exactly how many people die of this new disease?

Why don't they want US to know?

The key word being estimated, few of those are confirmed to be influenza, most are pneumonia. The seasonal flu vaccines only work on one strain of influenza out of many. The CDC numbers are guesses at best and lies at worst.

I still don't know of a single person who has contracted this....I hope I can still say that in December when we're all still waiting for a chance to get the vaccine!!!!

My 3-year old son was diagnosed with H1N1 about 2 weeks ago. The day it hit him like "a ton of bricks" was one of the worst days for my family....
In the middle of the night that night, my 6 year old (with illness induced asthma) woke up needing a breathing treatment. I took care of that, went back to bed, to have my husband wake up an hour or so later trembling with chills and feeling like he had "razors in his lungs"...he got up and went to the doc to find out he had bronchitis....an hour later, I woke the little one up and couldn't get him to sit up ...he just wanted to lay there limp, complained that his head hurt, and was extremely hot to the touch.
I called the doc and got him in the office...he wouldn't sit up, he wouldn't/couldn't walk, he was absolutely heart-breakingly weak. I took him to the doc, loaded in a wagon of pillows, because he was too weak to walk, too big to carry....
He was miserable that day with a fever that wouldn't go away, wouldn't sit up, and wouldn't eat. The doc advised I take him home and nurture him and get him as much fluids as possible..and that he might be nauseous. We were up all night drinking water and getting sick...but at least he was willing to drink the water!....
I was also told to keep him away from my hubby, and to send my 6-year old with asthma "away for a few days".... any combination of H1N1 with bronchitis, or H1N1 with asthma "would not be a good combination"...I was told.
Of course, that was horribly scary....and I cried the whole way home. I packed my 6-year olds bags and didn't let him back in the house at the end of his school day. Instead, he got to go visit Grandma and Papa for a few days.... and I bleached and lysoled the entire house, pillows, bedding, toys and anything else that would hold still...for fear the germies would attack....
The bright side of all of this is, the little guy got it...and noone else...and by 7am the day after I took him to the doc, he was on the mend....and wanting to eat. It was short lived but scary nonetheless.....
I feel that my little boy "took one for the home team"...even though he didn't know it and didn't plan it. If either my other son or husband had been infected, they would have fallen in that "underlying condition" category...(which is much more scary) and if I would have gotten it, well, hmmm, who would have taken care of Mom?....
I'm working to find out where I can get the H1N1 vaccine for my family...I've been told that even though we've probably had some exposure to it, we still need the vaccine....even the little one.

Dave, I've heard that number too, but they are predicting that this flu (H1N1), once it is in full stride will kill 75,000 to 100,00+ Americans. I think that is a pretty scary number. I wish I could remember where I read that, I'm sure if you Google the question you could find it.
