Owner should be wild, if safety is the reason they should poison all the deer.

What is the price of a pregnant Lama, not cheap. Bad decision.

So much for superior law enforcement in Minnesota...I swear, more people get into law enforcement to satisfy some inferiority complex than any other profession. At least that llama will look pretty sweet in the officer's den when he mounts it in an attack position.

1st question...where did the llama escape from?
2nd question...why didn't they get the proper tranquilzer needle for a thick skinned animal, probably available at your local vet?
3rd question...why didn't they try every avenue available to them before they shot this animal? A local 4-Her probably would have caught this llama on the first day!
I'm sure it just "had to be done" because daylight was burning and tickets needed to be handed out. Mower County "authorities" were way out of their depth here and should have gotten more help and not let the animal roam for so long. Again...where was the owner?

There ARE alternatives to killing it. Did they even consider calling in an expert on this type of animal? Heck no, they wanted to shoot it! They ought to be embarrassed!

Yes, and they spent a week trying those other methods.
When do you draw the line? Do you wait for an inexperienced driver to swerve into a ditch, or into oncoming traffic before you put it down?
Or, are you actually saying a llamas life is more valuable than a humans?

Nice of you to lump all police officers into a group of trigger happy homicidal maniacs.

Do any of you people have any experience working with llamas, or on a farm for that matter? You talk about a 4-Her or any farmboy being able to catch a llama. Good luck with that happening. Like most other farm animals, llamas have varying temperaments with the worst being extremely nervous and an aggression towards humans, which is magnified when they seen a bunch of strangers coming towards it. As far as not having a long enough tranquilizer needle, I would say odds are they did contact a vet to get their opinion and the tranquilizer itself. If an animal is in an excited state it sometimes takes a double dosage to be effective.

As far as where was the owner in this case, it had been on the loose for the week and the owner, like most farmers do, is spend the first couple of days looking for it. After that, they figure that someone will contact them to say where the llama is.

I remember a few times when the stockyards in South St Paul were still open and the city cops having to do the same thing when an animal would get loose. Would you say those cops were over-zealous??

Where was the owner of this llama? That is who should have been responsible for keeping the animal in its fence and capturing it when the llama got out. This was a very bad use of tax dollars and law enforcement. They should have spent those hours looking for drugs, DWI's, gangs, speeders and other crimes. The worst part of all this is they killed an innocenet baby llama.

Loose llama? Maybe if the llama wasn't such a degenerate slut and had a higher moral fiber, the llama would still be alive today.

Ma Kettle, even the best built fences can't hold every animal in. As I said in my previous post, the owner of the llama, like most other farmers that have animals, spend the first couple days looking for a lost animal. Even if the owner was able to find the llama, it probably would be scared of him/her and then go in an opposite direction. After a point, the owner usually figures that the animal will find its way back home or hope that a neighbor will contact them instead of contacting the local law authorities.

To the poster who commented about an "innocent baby llama being killed", what are the deputies supposed to do-get a vet and try to deliver the baby? If you deal with farm animals and a pregnant farm animal gets injured, they're more likely going to try to save the mother at the expense of the baby.

Law enforcement didn't need to be involved. Beer hunting season is right around the corner, I'm sure some Big Man would have blown the llama away.

The only thing you should be sorry for is being an imbecile...but thats not your fault either. Your government is to blame for making you a mentally incompetent and obviously unable to comprehend what you read.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
