After reading the "Get over it, Fortuna," letter in your June 11 Opinion Section, one can't help but be reminded of how fortunate the residents of Fortuna and beyond have been for the past 52 years to have a gathering place such as Parlato's Restaurant in their own backyard.

Thank you for writing your letter. Please let us know where you are all working -- because I have heard from people who want to follow you to your new places of employment. My family and I tried the Roy's Parlato's -- having loved and supported Irv's Parlato's for many years. We tried it several times and we were just not impressed. Added to that is the fact that we were disappointed with the way the employees were treated (when they were told that they would be treated fairly by the new owners). Bottom line, however: the food was not as good. And, the prices were substantially higher. To top it off, we were off-put by the bartending staff. They were either "in a fog" or kind of smart-alecky. Now, this is just one family's opinion. I just wanted to say we did give the new owners about 4 chances to impress us. And, again: I would love to know where the old employees are working because we would definitely support your new businesses.

The letter was a wonderful tribute by the loyal employees of Parlatos.I was one of the lucky ones to have enjoyed this fantastic food growing up and throughout my adult life. I still can taste the Italian meat sauce and the delicious herb chicken.
This great family restaurant will live on forever through our memories.

MORE THAN AJUST A NAME WAS A GREAT LETTER BECAUSE IT WAS TRUE,BECAUSE EVERY THINGS SAY INTO THE LETTER IS TRUE BECAUSE THEY ALL WAS PROMISE THIER JOB BACK AND NEVER GOT THEM BECAUSE THEY LIE TO THEM FROM THE START.!!!!!!!!!CAN YOU BLAME THE FORMER EMPLOYEES FOR BEING BITTER AND ANGRY AT THE NEW PARLATOS WHEN ALL OF US NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO SHOW THEM THAT WE WERE WORTH THE PAY WE WERE RECIEVING BEFORE THE TAKE OVER. MONEY PLAYED A BIG ROLE IN THERE DECISION TO NOT REHIRE US EVEN THOUGH THEY PROMISED US EMPLOYMENT BEFORE AND THAT WAS A LIE ON THER PART. 2 OF US OLD EMPLOYEES KNOW THAT THIS FACT WAS THEIR INTENTION FORM THE BEGINNING AS PER THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM THEM ON DAY ONE.

If a restaraunt is your life and you are not the owner, then you should seek professional help. From what I have read here, it sounds like the previous owner ran his "life" into the ground. Just to make myself clear I am referring to the restaraunt and not the possible alcohol problem that he may have had. If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at the family that sold the restaraunt, not the family that bought it. If it was so great then why would they have sold it? Does not take a smart person to figure out that a business doesn't sell when they are successful.

I'm NEVER going to go to Parlato's Restaurant again. I ordered a glass of wine that tasted like VINEGAR, and the waiter refused to bring another one. When the new manager came out he had a scowl on his face and he said it was the last bottle of Zinfandel. I told him it was not Zinfandel but it was bad Merlot. Needless to say it was on our bill, along with two other glasses we didn't order. The food was awful, bland, like it was from a can and heated half way up. The %20 tip was also included, which is wrong. I subtracted %18 percent of the tip purposely for the lousy service. Upon leaving we heard the manager calling us "Lesbos."

Reread the post you responded to. They were referring to bad service at PARLATOS, NOT ROY'S.

When you purchase a restaurant and keep the name, customers expect the same food and service. Shame on Roy's for not keeping the same menu and employees. I went there with an open mind, the food was terrible, staff short handed, and the friendly atmosphere was gone. If the former employees get together and open another restaurant, make sure you let everyone know where you came from.

I have enjoyed reading some of these posts. People clearly don't know all the facts about what they are talking about. There are only part truths on here. I personally know the cook at Parlato's and he is NOT the manager.

you keep talking about Roy's but if you read no one is talking about roy's. Roy's is not the problem Parlatos is. the food and service at roy's is awesome but the food and service at parlatos is horrible. before you start bashing a restaurant that is clearly not a problem why dont you double check, open your eyes, and bash on the resataurant that is the real problem(parlatos).
