The two attorneys should be ashamed of their defense. There has been little serious and real job development on the North Coast for the last decade mostly because of growers. Businesses can't attract quality labor when they can go into the hills and trim for $40 cash per hour. Pot growers businesses are superfunded and other like businesses that have to earn their capital don't do well competing. Pot growers form networks and work to keep new businesses and new "outsiders" from coming into their locations. The IRS will take care of these boys "millions". But as long as people are making money off the pot growers, like the attorneys, I guess ethics and honesty doesn't matter. Humboldt will just cheer them on.

Both should get and do the full 20 years. There is a lot you do not now about how these two treated other people who they felt got in their way.

They were criminals all the way to the bone!

We moms find this to be a sad state of affairs growing pot gets a person years in prison when we have seen sentences of probation for 3 years for the crime of murder. Self defense after shooting a man in the head through a closed door. 7 to 10 years for kicking and beating a young man to death, 1 year for murder + 4 years for using a gun. It is a pathetic thing when I consider myself as a luck mom because the POS that murdered my son received a sentence or 40 to life + 8 years.

What a POS defense. So all poor boys in Humboldt County should become growers because it is expected of them?

And all poor folks should be hold-up-artists too.

So, their defense was that they were a product of southern humboldts culture/attitude toward marijuana and the were simply following some sort of cultural blueprint? How about this: These two incredibly greedy youngmen, who had made enough money to retire a few times over, really set the precedence for this supposed culture. I guess it is my and every other sohum residents fault they turned out like they did. Let's not blame their parents or better yet acknowledge their own actions and behaviors as being their own fault.

you should have hired an attorney. you probably went with a public pretender, I mean defender aka a dumptruck. The reality is that your son probably had a long record or there is a lot more to your story than what you say. 20 years? Why don't you appeal?

They were smart enough to invest their profits in other businesses, but too stupid (greedy) to quit while they were ahead. I do feel for the guy's son, but not his gf who was probably complicit in the "business". Last time I checked, my mommy said that just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean I have to do it.

BTW, where did they get the money for attorneys? They should have had a public defender/case clearer. All their money came from illicit activities. Why were they allowed to keep enough for a legal defense effort?

What about the tobacco companies that kill 450,000 people every single year in the USA.
Millions of our own dead.

Just another stupid smoke screen pot story to turn heads away from the real story. Wake up worms.

I love the title "Garberville Developer" shouldn't it say "Garberville Marijuana Grower" Although, I have to give some credit to these guys, they tried to start a legit enterpirse to launder the illegal cash, but illegal greed always catches up with ya eventually. Nothing is worth your freedom, you will never get those years back.
