Doug Loyd's House Foreclosure

This weeks North Georgia News, page 12B top left corner, Doug Loyd's house is being sold next month at the court house for non payment. I think you need to pay your bills before you should be able to run for sheriff.

During lunch today, a few of my old friends mentioned that Doug Loyd does not have any money to run for Sheriff. Supposedly, he does not even have the money needed to pay his filing fee ($1700). He has been pestering people to fork up money for a fund raiser this month. I expressed my opinion to my friends; anyone who quits their job when he knows his home is going into foreclosure and then wants people to fund his Sheriff’s race must be rowing with one paddle. Any money donated to Doug is throwing your money away. His race was over before it started. Also, some of Scott Stephens’s uniformed thugs are out trying to intimidate citizens to support him. Scott is very worried about getting his tail kicked out of office this November. A lot of his 2004 supporters have told him to kiss off.

I would like more information, Homegrown, about the so-called "uniformed thugs" as you say it that are out intimidating citizens. Every time I have needed a Deputy Sheriff, I have always been met with respect. You must be one of the druggies busted recently.

Union County Voter, your statement assuming that anyone who dares to disagree with Scott Stephens must be a drug dealer is typical and clearly shows your one sided and narrow mindedness. My statement has nothing to do with drug dealers. I was relaying information about two officers trying to intimidate citizens to vote for Scott. Only an uneducated moron like Scott would believe that such a tactic could circumvent the will of the voters. You and Norm at the NGN must think that the citizens of Union County are children. Well I have news for you; people are not buying into the flood of recent self promoting news articles about Scott Stephens. Only a simple minded person like you would dare to make such statements. I and many other voters have united and organized to bring an end to our current Sheriff’s term. Please relay to your buddy Scott that he may want to start looking for another job. alright homegrown you are relaying the information, once again spreading rumors. Did you hear it at the Tom Jones committee meeting? You can not believe everything you hear even in a little town like Blairsville. First you Jones freaks say that the deputies are voting for Jones, now they are intimidating the citizens. Must not be so bad for them if they want him in there, huh?

First, I am not on any committee. I and other citizens do not need any committee to make up our minds. Second, I said two deputies, not all the deputies. Third, I would feel the same regardless of who was running. It’s an abuse of power.It is really funny, when someone has something negative to say about Scott, they are either drug dealers or working for the other candidate. It must be really hard for Scott to understand and except that the voters want him out of office. He had his chance and blew it. What does it indicate when two of Scott’s deputies quit their jobs to run for Sheriff? Even though Doug Loyd does not have a chance to win this election, he has more integrity in his baby finger then Scott. If Scott’s recent media show in the newspaper is any gauge, Mr. Jones must have Scott really worried. And for the record, I do like Mr. Jones; not because of any committee meeting, which I have never been to, but because he seems to really care about this county. And from the over 7000 hits on his website, many other citizens are taking a hard look at him too. Although, I am sure over 1000 of those hits on his site are from Scott and Doug Loyd.

You seem to spew the same garbage and not just you all of you, anytime we balk the rumors. You Jones people all say the samething, funny, I do not see the Scoot people spreading rumors. The Jones crew is the worse for spreading of rumors and playing the victims.
I was on the fence about Jones, his crew knocked me off. It has been consitent crap since the begining with rumors, lies, and anything else damaging to a person.
I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way.

The truth hurts; doesn’t it? You are not fooling anyone. You are the one who started calling people drug dealers. Vote for Scott, who cares. The other 12000 voter will vote for someone else. And just so you know, most of my friends voted for Scott in 2004, but his decline in popularity is his own fault. No one has asked me to help Mr. Jones, but I am okay with being called “Jones crew”. As far as others feeling your way; I am sure all the people Scott has let off for DUI are for Scott. Are you one of those people? I wonder. See, it’s not fun being accused of something just because you have a different opinion.

I thought you said Scott's crew were the only ones that make alligations, I rest my case. I do not know who I will vote for, but I know who I will not.

Yes, I have allowed myself to be sucked into name calling. Sorry. It just makes me mad when people try to use their authority to intimidate people. The guy that told me about the officers asking him; why he was not voting for Scott has never lied to me about anything. He felt very intimidated by their questions. I feel that officers should not approach citizens and question them about who they are voting for especially while they are in uniform. A lawyer friend of mine in Atlanta told me that this practice is against the law. It’s called, Judicial Misconduct and it’s a crime. I have passed this info onto my friend.

I am honestly supporting none of the canidates, truly I am not. Here is my issues, read the threads and really look at the Scott crew tehy are not spreading rumors, it is the Jones people, that is where Tom Jones looks bad. Come on say your friend is telling the truth, although know a few deputies I find it tough to believe, do you really think all these Scott rumors are true? I have heard rumors about Jones, but I choose not to put them on a forum because if you asked me to back them up with fact I could not. The only thing thus far in here that is been able to be proven is Doug's forclosure. Again, I did not see it, but I am assuming with all that saw it, it most likely is true. Doug should have waited a few years, built his time in, built his character, stayed on top of his finances, and then he should have ran. It is not his time. Somebody mentioned Bear on the other thread, I think he would have been great!

I am not with any Jones crew, but I do think that a lot of people have a beef with Scott. Some stories are true while others are not. I totally agree with your opinion about Doug. About the story my friend told me; like I said, he has never been known to make up things. Take it for what it’s worth. I personally have met Mr. Jones at different forums, and I want to be clear about this; he has never said anything negative about any of the other candidates. He only talks about his platform. That’s the truth. What I would suggest to anyone, call him for yourself. I am sure he does not need me or any other person to speak for him. Thanks.

SMG I have met Mr. Jones personally, spoken with him, and do not like him. I have the right as you have the right to like him. Doug can not control money and Scott is a drunk, none are any good with me.

It would be hard for any candidate to beat a two term incumbent; much less one that's only been here for a couple of years.
