I think it is time that the entire Union County Sheriffs department gets fired and new people brought in. They are all corrupt and find any little thing to nitpick about. It is sad when you are told by a States attorney in another state that he avoids Georgia because of the corruption and the law enforcement. Now I see what they mean. I have been driving for over 17 years and only been stopped twice in those 17 years. Since moving to Georgia a few months ago, I have been stopped over 4 times for petty stuff, harassed by the Sheriffs department, and stalked by them. Apparently they have nothing better to do. So now it is time for citizens to stand up and show them we will not stand for it. You CAN report them for things they do illegal to you or in general, like turning on their lights to pass someone then turn them off, or to go through a red light even, etc. Start reporting them! Document everything as well, better yet video it if you can! Start filing lawsuits against them. Just don't do anything violent, keep it civil and legal, but show them that we are tired of being harassed by corruption!

Awww... somebody was speeding and got a ticket. How pitiful.

Really now, I've lived here all my life and have never been harrassed by the cops. At one time, I knew some of the deputies, but now that I'm older, I doubt I know any of them, so you can't say it's a good ol' boy thing. Maybe I just don't drive fast or erratically like you do.
Makes no sense

There is something about you that makes them pull you over. You are full of BS. Our law enforcement departments are good.
So, be more specific, what "States attorney?"

Sounds to me like LE is making a good decision pulling you over. You must be dirty.

Any one can get an award and have praise heaped upon them. Just look at ex judge David Barrett. Did you read that puff piece about him in the NGN?
You talk about bull feces, now that tops it all.

Yeah. One cop who got an award has left his wife and kids and is living with his mama! Goof example for the community and a great lesson for his daughters on how families should be treated for "his space"?

I've lived in Union County for 20 years and have been stopped for speeding twice. Both times the deputys were very nice and just ask me to slow down. No tickets. I have nothing bad to say about UCSO...

You are typical of the residents of Union County but if you look below the surface you find a much different picture.

And a dirty cop does not go unnoticed. How many others knew of it and did nothing?

consider yourself lucky in re: stopped for speeding twice in 20 years. I have been pulled over 4 times in less than 5 months.#1 one headlight when i clicked to highbeams (which constituted drug dog search)2nd time my tag light was not illuminated (which constituted drug dog search) 3rd time was failing to maintain lane when my windshield wipers broke in the rain,in the dark (which constituted drug dog search) 4th time was actually in my own driveway

The sheriff's race for reelection has been very quiet as of late. I talked with Mack Mason about what changes he hope to make if elected. They were in my opinion postive changes. Such things as zones and taking the illegal tinting off the windows of patrol cars and much more than can be listed here. If you see him out ask him. He isn't bashful at telling you what needs to be done. Everyone needs to be an informed voter and the best way to be informed is ask questions.
