Sounds like a texting accident. Unfortunate. Ban texting and driving!

How in the world did you come up with this? How about banning you?

This is tragic news, and every indication is that it was not Ms. Kaufman's fault. Hers was a "turn your life around" story that is truly inspiring.

Rest in peace, Sara.

Im gonna guess, Ms. Mary Smith was busy texting while driving. I see idiots doing this a lot on the roads, this is a possibility.

Nice story, nice comments. May she RIP.
Contrast the facts here (no helmet, a fatality), though, with how one small difference (had she been on two wheels instead of four). Go back and check those instances of motorcycle deaths over the last two years in the PiPress and Strib (particularly the comments)- completely different - dismissive, scolding, scathing, mocking, dissing.
Funny how that works, uh?

I've met Sara a couple times through a relative who went to school with her at Century. She was a sweetheart and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Rest in peace, Sara. I wish I would have known you better.

There for the grace of God go I...may this incredible woman rest in peace. If there was any indication of texting, as some of the posters are assuming, it will come out in the investigation and Mary Smith will probably be charged with negligent vehicular homicide. Such a shame if that is the case.... a shame for all involved.

Small cars cause tragic wrecks.

This was NOT an accident, there was a cause for this wreck. The driver who ran into Sara's car was not watching where he was going!

He may have been:

texting
talking
adjusting radio/audio
sleeping
drunk
drugged
had heart attack/stroke
daydreaming
eating
reading the paper
watching something out a side window

In other words the driver was guilty of inattentive driving leading to vehicular homicide!

The driver that ran into the car where the lady was killed was not a he. The story list the name of the drive as "Mary". Mary would be a she.

I am Sara's BF / Fiance I had asked her to marry me just the week before but we hadnt told anyone yet so all the newspaper articals call me the BF . The girl who took my Baby from me will pay for her actions . All I know is that this girl drove straight into Sara's car with out ever hitting her brakes even at impact .. I know this from the witness's and the tow truck drivers who are my friends and there were no tire marks on the road where it happend . She was taken from me for no good reason personally I believe this girl was texting and not paying attention to what she was doing , "I dont know what happened" her own words .
First of all this girl shouldnt have been driving in the first place she had no insurance , second where the accident happened was in a construction site about a half mile past the very LARGE signs that stated 55 mph but she was doing close to or more then 70 mph . My Baby was the love of my life and I will miss her for the rest of my life , We were palnning on getting married and had been trying to have a child at the time of her accident . As far as I am concerned this Mary Smith should get the max penalty the law can give . I Hope she saw my Babies face when she was pulled from her car and sees it everytime she closes her eyes .
