I know Annick and Jerry Vierra well enough to known that she was in fact intoxicated at the time of the accident.
You know for a fact??? Really??? A blood level content has not even been made public and the Police are still investigating, so how is it you know all the facts???

She use to often come in on a weekly basis last year to my place of work
So the last time you saw her was "last year" and you know what all the facts are???
Unknown wrote:
It's my suspicion that she is an alcoholic because she would come into the building in the morning before noon reaking of alcohol. What person do you know is drunk in the morning on a daily basis?
Let's see, first is was " on a weekly basis", now it's " on a daily basis", which one is it????

You know absolutely "nothing"!!!

Why would you need a blood alcohol percentage to judge this incident as a criminal act?

As best as I can remember, my wife has never jumped up on the hood of my car when I've decided to go for a drive... But if she ever does, I'm quite positive that I would make a quick change of plans, and I would NOT drive the car until my lovely wife is no longer hanging onto the hood.

This is a stupid conversation. There is no excuse for the woman's action. The only question is whether she should be charged with murder or manslaughter.

I beg one thousand pardons, Sahib. I didn't realize you were having a private conversation in an open internet forum...

From now on, kindly label your posts with the following: "PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO MY POSTS IF YOU ARE NOT THE ANONYMOUS PERSON I HAVE NEVER MET WITH WHOM I AM TRYING TO CONVERSE WITH PRIVATELY."

Thank you, and again, I beg your pardon.

We have known Annick and Jerry for quite a few years and are extremely saddened to hear of Jerry's untimely death. People should not be making judgments - regardless if they did or did not know Annick and Jerry. None of us have walked in their shoes. No one knows the underlying circumstances of this tragic accident. Our hearts and prayers go out to the whole family in this sad time.

The woman has been drinking out of control for years. She has now taken the only father figure that a grandson knew since his dad, her son died. Her selfless act is only 1 of many that have affected people in a negative way. She was so angry and mad at him for MANY years and her intentions are clear that she wanted this to happen. Jerry was trying to stop her…in the wrong place at the wrong time. She has wanted him gone and he wanted a divorce because of the many events and terrible acts of Annick during the most recent months. She did nothing but sleep, then drink all day. Her hang-over would last until she would drink earlier & earlier. Her habit & drinking is and has been out of control for far too long. Jerry went to work everyday to support her and his grandson. He did everything for them financially. Annick has no feelings for anybody or anything. She had caused this suffering for the grand children and the burden of this event now they each must live, know that their grandmother killed their grandfather while being super drunk. That is the real horror. Nobody has any idea the effects this will have on these children. Not once did Annick do anything to get better in the past 5+ years. Her grief & her suffering are mostly self-inflicted and her behavior is dangerous. Everybody in the world has pain and problems but nobody has the right to drown themselves in booze then take off in a car, PERIOD! If it wasn't Jerry then it very well could have been you & your family maybe coming home from a vacation or a local movie house. You should keep your pity for the real victims not the one person who caused all of this. It is her fault and I believe she has satisfaction of it & so I pray that the legal ramifications put her away for life. That is exactly the sentence Jerry & the rest of the friends and family member are suffering. She isn't even a contributing civilian. What has she done that is so great? So now I am sure if she is out on bail that she is drowning herself with addition booze & pills while feeling so sorry for herself and feeling like the victim again. I can’t understand how you can say that the facts were not reported? How much more needs to be reported? The events were pretty cut & dry. The truth hurts, the fact remains she killed him while breaking the law & her drinking is a crime. You deserve what ever punishment she deserves if you think Jerry has caused this…you can’t be a rational person or living in reality. People like you have themselves fooled to think that it is ok to screw up like that. If that was my child or my father I would be there in court asking for the fullest, highest punishment that the law allows. No one person has the inside opinion that the people who have been around them or in the lives of these people. This is the exact thing that happens when people live the way Annick chose to live. It was all her choice, it was all avoidable

Does that really matter? The events leading up to Jerry trying to stop her...well if you want to know the events you would need to be someone in the court hearings or jury. This is an outrage that you think the reason matters. SHE KILLED HIM!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a heated debate, from family friends, and those with awell balanced opinion. Did Annick not just finish her third rehab? You think this is a tragic story have no real idea what this poor family has been thru for years, and years and years. its such a damn shame that the one person who did change his life is now dead. and the one who is so lost, messed up, and can't get it together is still alive. Where is the justice in this world? She will be getting off for the death of her husband, or basically a small slap on the wrist, I seriously doubt she will do any hard time as those of us who knowSolano county - knnow they are soft of drunk drivers. yes confirmed she was drinking, nothing new in the life of... She was taking off in Jerrys beloved car, not her own.... why?you ask... those who know Ann - know of her mean drinking streaks. Kids- Bobby is already dead, Bless his soul, and there is only one son left. and a g rand son. What a mess. Kill go to jail. I see it no other way.

These "family friends" scare me if I just killed my husband in a drunken stupior I sure as hell would want more articulate intelligent people like yourself defending me….and by the way notice how they are defending her and not one mention of the man who lost his life?

Isn't alcoholism a disease? So for everyone patting her husband on the back for staying with her-you can stop. That is part of the through sickness and health, till death do us part. If she had a mental disease, or cancer, would you blame her for her husband's death?Like someone else said-do we know that the husband was perfectly innocent-did he ever abuse her? There are two sides to every story. If the woman lost a child-did you ever think maybe that contributed to her drinking. Maybe she was self medicating. I know the why's don't matter-because the end result is the same no matter what. He died-she has now lost a son and a husband. Let her grieve-and probably drink herself to death-in peace.

Alcoholism is a disease the same way leukemia is a bad habit.

Becoming an alcoholic can happen to anyone. The only thing it takes is some alcoholic mosquito biting you and you can die of alcoholism.

West Nile is another bad habit. People sitting around stagnant pools of water while they're half naked, just begging the mosquito's to bite them so they can catch a West Nile Buzz! Then they drive home covered in mosquito bites and end up killing innocent people who didn't have any mosquito bites on them at all.
Then it's the same old story,,,, I only had three bites!

Yep, alcoholism, like most common diseases, can happen when you least expect it. Scientist's have found that people who come down with alcoholism, often drink to excess. So getting drunk is evidently one common trait that has linked many of these cases together.

Remember, just say NO to Alzheimer's!

addressed to No One important, Don't forget she has two Grand daughters from her other son that she is not allowed to see I wonder why. Let's face it our justice system is not fair and in this case I hope and pray that she wins her battle with alcoholism so that no one else gets hurt or worst KILLED. Her disease has been a life long battle and giving her 6 months rehab is probably not enough especially since she is dealing with so many loses.

I also know Annick and yes I also believe she was intoxicated as well as RX pills. I also agree that she knew it would piss Jerry of if she got into his truck to drive off and she got a reaction, he tried to stop her and lost his life. his life is gone but she lives off his retirement, his social security and her price to pay was a six month rehab and home on the weekends. I was always surprise that Jerry was with such a wack job and when people say he is in a better place, yes he is AWAY FROM HER. I feel fear for the safety of her other family members, you never know when she is going to go off, rehab is over for her in two weeks, what will happen next and who will be the next one to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and get in her way during one of her explosions!
