It wasn't a/the sheriff, it was a sheriff deputy, more specifically a sergeant (Rick Haldeman I believe). For starters the guy is an idiot, pardon my french. There is a thing that we police officers use called a 'ladder of force'. This 'ladder' is the minimum amount of 'force' that is to be used, based upon the tools available to the officer, the demeanor and violent tendencies of the subject and the type of physical damage being inflicted upon a person or persons. For example, if two people are in a fist fight with one another, and there is no indications of weapons being used or serious bodily harm (serious internal injuries, broken bones, torn members, *not black eyes or bloody noses) being inflicted upon one another, then the officer would not need to pull his service weapon and shoot them. He would use his prescence, verbal commands, physical restraints techniques, handcuffing and possibly chemical agents (such as OC or pepper spray) to resolve the conflict. Things such as police canine units and firearms would not be used under those circumstances. Officers are supposed to be steadily and thoroughly trained on using the minimum amount of force to resolve a situation. As a sergeant, he should be more than aware and trained in such basic police training. Pepper spraying CHILDREN for spraying him with water from squirt guns during a fourth of July parade is completely idiotic. Not proscecuting his continued ineptitude (he did kill two motorists prior because of his negligence and lack of due regard, yet sued the county he worked for) is a fundamental mistake and one that people can only expect from small town Wisconsin counties. Jackson County law enforcement ineptitude; the reason why I refuse to ever return to my home of 14 years ever again.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Libra

Take things gently today Libra, because mistakes and misunderstandings are rife. Don't get the wrong end of the stick with a loved one, or to get in a muddle over a financial matter. If you're out shopping, you should check your change carefully, and make sure you've been charged the right amount for whatever you're buying.
