In August,1965 my family was graciously hosted at the Red Arrow Campground in Black Hawk for a week. Charles J Schmitt provided a letter of introduction to local attractions for us. Through this letter we were able to go to the Marine Life Aquarium, Horseless Carriage Museum, Cosmos of the Black Hills, Stage Barn Crystal Cave, Timber of Ages Petrified Forest and other Black Hills places

I am writing to thank all of those Black Hawk residents who helped make our stay so memorable, particularly the folks associated with Red Arrow Campground. We had a wonderful time!

Perhaps some of you will remember that summer when our family of seven arrived in our covered wagon as we made our way from Minnesota to California. By the time we reached Black Hawk, our old-time wooden wagon - which modestly resembled a prairie schooner - was being pulled by a 1954 Chev pickup. Unfortunately it was necessary to use engine-power rather than to continue to use our horse-power when the horses developed leg problems on the earlier part of the journey.

Many thanks to you all.
