if the smoking ban passes, i will quarantee 75% of the people i saw in deadwood 2 weeks ago will not go back to deadwood. my comment, if you can't take the heat stay out of the fire. all the casinos i was in had a non-smoking section - yet there were people sitting in the smoking sections verbally accosting smokers - bottom line - you have a place - why can't i have mine??????? face it, it's not going to go away - deal with it - don't shove your attitude - go where you are comfortable and want to be - leqave me alone!!!!!

If You do not think smoking bans effect the casinos. Take a look at New York State (FULL SMOKING BAN), Monticello Raceway has Slot machines. The place is dead all week, and will be laying off and moving some slots out.

Then about an hour away in Pennsylvania Pocono Downs Race track has Slot machines ( mohigan Sun )and the place is packed all week and they just put on a Huge addition. PA has a 50%- 50% smoking law.

Being from out of state and visiting Deadwood for the first time last year, once we arrived and got out of the car you could feel immediatly you were in a different place just by the free spirit of the town, it was so nice to walk down to the No. 10 saloon after a long drive and sit down relax have a beer a cigarette and play some slots! I just hope this state will exclude Deadwood as this ban will destroy this town. Petition keep the spirit alive!

Yeah! The documents were filed with the secretary of state this afternoon to petition the ban,(3-31-09) all you need is less then 17,000 signatures! Get the word out where people can sign! Way to go South Dakota people show this ignorant nation that the people NOT the government are the backbone of this country, your state could be the one to make the REAL change in this country!

We have planned another trip to Deadwood this summer. We have gone for the last 5 years --- and we live in Ky. This will be our last year since you have imposed a smoking ban. (It's too late to change our vacation.) Hope you can fill the casinos.

When I visited Black Hawk, Colorado last month, the one cigar store casino that is exempted is packed LOL. Any attempt to change it would also ban smoking in the bar at the classy Brown Palace Hotel in downtown Denver near the Capitol Building, where the politicans hang out. I get a laugh out of seeing the ban zealots going ballistic over this one. They're probably trying to change the State Constitution for ONE business.

Hmmm, just happens Deadwood is on our to do list this summer. The four of us travel to different SMOKE FREE Casinos every year. Seems Deadwood won't miss you one bit, except for your nasty harmful smoking habit. I'll send you a post card if you'd like!!!!

In New York State we went through the "no smoking" ban. The state is now "smoke-free". We survived and so will SD. There are ALOT of non-smokers with plenty of money to spend, in fact the local establishments will see an influx of patronage because people will enjoy being out more in a cleaner environment and the smokers learned to adapt. What they did in NYS was create outdoor smoking areas. Even in the winter...it works.

I can take you to 20 different bars and taverns in NYC that permit smoking in defiance of the law. the law is a JOKE..

The same here in Chicago. Chatting with commuters at the bars at Union Station, they all know bars in their community that allow smoking. Al Capone is laughing in his grave.

Since these bans are all about health, they should be required to put the Chantix and Zyban warning on all of the government issued “No smoking” signs to prevent lawsuits by forcefully coercing residents into using a dangerous product.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
