Alabama shooting helps spark call for public safety changes

The United States Conference of Mayors cites the shooting of 10 people in Samson, Alabama as an example of the need for stronger public safety attention including gun safety policy.

Even if Samson officials did have enough time to respond to the shootings, which they didn't on account of how fast it all took place, they still would not have had the equipment necessary to stop McLendon, he had modified high powered guns and enough ammunition to take out the whole town.
They did an awesome job given the circumstances.

There are always going to be attempts to impede our 2nd Amendmant rights with measures decrying the need for more or tighter gun control in the interest of public safety.

Better enforcement of the laws on the books should be the focus of attention instead of punishing law abiding citizens with more unneccesary governmental intravention.

Let's remember these are criminals that are violating current laws by modifying weapons to committ these heinous acts of violence.

When the gunman came through Geneva I was armed and ready to take him out if I felt threatened in any way.

Samson PD did have 2 high powered automatic rifles. Samson PD did have time to respond after the first link was made. We will never know, but just maybe James, Sonya and Bruces' lives could have been saved. Bruce is the one who tried to defend Samson, not the Samson law. Bruce is the one who have received, post humously, the awards the chief and asst chief received. Now the mayor is trying to capitalize from the State monies for this and for that. These are criminals that are not armed but greed is their motive.
