I don't know if the story and pictures are real.. that's what I am trying to find out.. In these days of "photo shopped' pictures, it wouldn't be hard to place the fawn on a sofa with the beagle..

Why is it so hard 2 get proof of something so cute & why would some 1 waist time making it up.

It said that it hit the 6 o'clock news so you may not find it in the newspaper.

It looks like the hind leg of the fawn is in two different positions in the two photos, as are the ears, and in the "straight on" photo, the fawn appears nestled in to the cover on the sofa. I believe they are real photos of a living fawn. They are certainly sweet.

i am a local of the area, i live in bittinger, md
well actully its accident md. that is a real fawn, and a real beagle, its that time of the year for fawns, and there is lots of deer moving around this time of year due to farming and construction. but yea its pretty cute... |
||||
It is a real dog, a real deer and a real photo. It's my brother's dog, my brother's house and my brother's couch. No fake. If you knew the beagle ("Rusty") you would understand. Just a dumb, loveable beagle that loves to track (slow, but steady) rabbits but has probable never seen one. His only enemies in life are chimpmunks. |
||||
I was actually starting to think that this is real.. Whether it is or it is not, I have not yet decided in my mind, but according to this link “Rusty” is not the dog’s name. So I am not sure what you would gain by fibbing, but someone isn’t telling the truth. Here is the link all look for your selves... http://www.neatorama.com/2008/08/11/fawn-in-t... |

Krissi, Neatorama is a blog site. You can't take anything they say as fact. However, if you click the link right after the story below the picture. Then it takes you to it's source. There at the top of the page is says "Bucky and the Beagle" (i.e. they aren't saying the Beagle's name is Bucky...they're calling the fawn Bucky). The Neatorama poster just misunderstood.

I am experienced with several different graphics programs including open Canvas, Photoshop, and Corel. I maximized this photo to its pixels and it clearly is not a fake picture.
Also in such dim lighting and odd coloring in the foreground and background, trust me it is next to impossible with a real life photo, to place things in it that were not there before. |

Apparently this happened near Deep Creek, MD. |
||||
Unless there's one that's body parts can be moved, the fawn isn't stuffed, the head and tail, and even body position are different in each photo. There've been a couple of other dog and fawn photos about, and while the stories have turned out to be fake or changed the photos themselves are real. I suspect there is some truth to this. An earlier poster also said they found it in the paper. |
||||
|
I don't think this is true... if you look at the picture you could tell by the ears of the fawn... they are shiny and bright pink... Looks like silk and sheesh don't you think the fawn would get scared and run off or go nuts if it seen the dude??

I think it's real. When fawns are born their mother's go off for awhile and then come back to get the fawn. I think that in this case the fawn saw the dog and probably thought it was its mother and followed it.

1 WRAL-TV is the source. That's the channel that ran it on the evening news. The area where this happened is in Appalachia - really the middle of nowhere. I don't see why you would find it so strange. Young animals who lose their mothers will latch onto adult animals willing to offer care, even if their species is not the same. And it's not THAT uncommon for wild animals to enter a person's home. |

You folks are to gun shy. We have deer coming out of our ears in Western Maryland. I have little footprints in my garden everday. If I had a doggie door I might find fawns, raccoons, opossum, rabbits etc.. on my couch. It is common to find a fawn sleeping in the flower bed. I saw ten deer the other day when I went down to get the newspaper.Four does ,six fawns in spots.
