Buy today's edition of the Bisbee Review, Monday February 6, 2012.

Every year there is much howling around here over what a scam this event is. Mindless rants against Cynthia Conroy and company.

Regardless, today's article details the awarding a total of $64000 in mini grants alone. Let us not need to establish every year the validity and good works of this organization. Sometimes prickly personalities get great things done.

I agree. There is no denying that this organization brings in money to help people. They also actually do fix stairs in Bisbee as well. I think Cynthia Conroy should be the new Community Development Director and get rid of John Charley who I feel does nothing to develop this City in a positive way.

I also agree. Let's also acknowledge the many who contributed, especially Freeport McMoran. They alone
is responsible for almost 1/3 of the money raised in
this event alone. They also support Bisbee in many other ways.

"The 2011 Stair Climb was the first time that the Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold Foundation jumped on board as the Title Sponsor, noted Conroy. The foundation offered the board a donation challenge: they would match dollar for dollar what was raised — up to $20,000."

Putting Cynthia Conroy back into any kind of government job would be most unwise.

Please explain. Did not know she worked government job before, in
Bisbee? What position and how did she do?

If you get a chance, ask her yourself.

The facts are she is very competent with Bisbee 1000.
This does not mean she would be in other areas.

I am interested in understanding yours and others reasons why you you do not think it is a good idea for her to work in government
and why you said she is incompetent.

She has proven herself to be very competent with Bisbee 1000.
If she has worked in government before and did not do well, then tell us about it. I am not for or against her. I really don't know much about her. I just think what she has contributed through Bisbee 1000 is great.

It makes no sense for me to ask her. It is what you and others know about her that I would like to know.

The Bisbee 1000 has not given any money for stair repair for over 5 years. Is is all going to many other good causes and salary, but stair repair is not one of them. She uses public property (stairs, streets, services) that costs taxpayers to run her event, but her board would rather give the proceeds to anyone but the city which has no money to fix our stairs.

Makes me think the name "save out stairs" is very disingenuous.

That is absolutely not true. There were three sets of stair repaired this year from the Bisbee 1000. It is a fact. Just call COB Public Works and they will tell you where the stairs were that were repaired.

Since you purport to know so much about where the money has been going, how about a rundown, according to 'your' sources.

I would like to correct from my previous post that the stair repair started at the end of last year and may still be ongoing. And, handrails were also put in where it was feasible. I think one set of stairs was somewhere off of the Gulch and one set on a small side street off of Tombstone Canyon. Not sure where the other stair repair was. I observed some of the work.

Thank you. That is all I need to know.
no, your question has an easy answer. i was just trying to be polite. but this is The Internet, so to hell with it:

just talk to this person for more than a few minutes and imagine the person you talk to being in a high ranking position in any capacity, government or otherwise. the woman is nutty, aggressive in the far, far extreme, and has no filter. she will just start talking mad, mad shit about the mayor or council or john charley or whomever she has a problem with, and she will do it as though she is the only person on earth, as if there will not be nor could there be any consequence to her trashing these people in a loud type-a caricature-like voice, whether one witness or a dozen are there to hear it. its not to say she does not care - no, she does not realize how she comes across.

so yeah: if you want an answer, just try talking with her for 20 minutes, then imagine that person running the show in bisbee. it would be a disaster. she would be in the paper making your town look like shit every other week because she would be dropping bomb after bomb, the newspaper people would be positively drooling over the juicy story they were gonna get every time she opens her big mouth.

it may be that her administrative skills, and any other skillsets she may bring to bear on the position would be impeccable. certainly the bisbee 1000 is a real success and a boon to the town and she deserves credit for her hard work and dedication. i mean that. but there is more to being the executive leadership than that. you also have to be able to hold your own and keep yourself in check in a public setting and this individual has no skills in this regard. none. i mean that too. i have never said a word to this person but i have been an innocent bystander just listening to her rant at full volume just trashing the shit out of the bisbee local govt and whomever else pissed in her cheerios that day and i fear for you people if she gets into some kind of position of real power in bisbee. it will be ugly, ugly ugly.

NOW DOES THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION?!?!

It has been conceded that Cynthia's running the Bisbee 1000 doesn't necessarily mean she would be competent in other areas, such as city government. It seems to me that the real question is in respose to the Post #4 suggestion that Cynthia has held government positions - presumably administrative - in the past. Your opinion about Cynthia's personality doesn't answer that question raised about her job history. Whether alluded to intentionally or not, the author of Post #4 should clarify the comment.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Virgo

It's no good arguing with a certain person today because they'll always have a smart answer ready for you and you'll simply end up going round in circles. You could also get rather ratty in the process, which will destroy any chance of raising objective arguments or proving that they're a boring pedant who's only happy when they're scoring points off you. They might say the same about you!
