That's fine. It's not as if we expect Ellison to do any actually work in Washington. The import thing is the image he wants to project. And apparently this little stunt is something he expects the folks back home to take great sanctimonious pleasure in.

You hit the nail on the head Dr. L. It's obvious Ellison is getting uppity. Like you say, the liberals who elected him are fascists. Nothing pleases them more than anarchy in the streets and they're gonna love what Ellison did. It's time for some good old fashioned law and order to put all these protesters in their place. I can't believe that Ellison's district borders the district represented by my hero Michelle Bachman. She knows that that those who disagree with you and me are anti-American liberal scumbags. Keep posting Dr. L. You are a true American!

He can't get on the the right wing talk shows. Michelle Bachmann has them all booked up.

That's what you meant, right?

Shouldn't an elected official follow the proper channels of our government instead of protesting in front of an embassy?

So many of you are up in arms because an elected official is fighting for what he believes in and is willing to get arrested for it? I think it's admirable for an elected official protesting other elected officials.

If only others cared as much as Rep Ellison did. It's refreshing!

BTW, for the posters who are putting him down, are you against what he's fighting for?

Is he not afforded the rights of the first amendment just like you and I? Does his rights of free speech stop because he's an elected official?

If only more people stood up to fight what they believed in instead of simply venting on Topix!

Keith Ellis, Al Franken, Jesse Ventura......look at the kind of stuff this state has turned out in recent years as not only elected officials, but candidates in the first place. For God's sakes, would all of you reasonable people get off your duffs and get a little more politically involved so that we can stop having these kinds of people "representing" us? Ellis is yet another example of what has happened to the democratic party in the past 25 years.

Ellis's actions are ridiculous but not as much as the fact that this state's populations of conservatives/moderates has become far too complacent.

Is he supposed to spend his time going on national talk shows, spewing uneducated nonsense and embarrassing the state while ignoring the constituents back home? I think that job has been taken.

1. Can they water board him now for terrorist information he may have about the next attack on the US?

2. Oh I guess getting any relevant information out of a UN Congressman is not possible.

3. Will he be placed on the Homeland Security watch list as a man caused catastrophe to the US government like all those evil unpatriotic tax protesters are?

4. Nice he can find time to PEE away on some irrelevant country. I thought we had our own little issues in the US and MN to be concerned with. We are paying him for this folly? Do we pay for his lawyer to get him out of the poky also then?

5. I am so proud of our congressman. I have a tingle running down my leg. Oh wait, that is just to many cups of coffee this morning. Never mind.

We elect representatives to make laws not break them. Lets take a look at all of the things Rep. Ellison has accomplished since taking office. <crickets chirping>.

Ok - maybe its time to make Mr. Ellison a private citizen again so he has more time to pursue these activities. And get someone in his place who will actually work for and benefit the people who elected him.

Time for a quiz:

What would draw more attention to the atrocities in Darfur?

1) A "strongly worded statement" read into the Congressional Record by Rep Ellison from the floor of the House; or,

2) Rep Ellison getting arrested in front of the Sudanese embassy, and the ensuing news coverage (and disparaging comments from the wingnuts on Topix) it would generate?

I'd call that a no-brainer.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
