boss wrote: Dixie Mafia is aterm made up by the FBI. Therefore, no such organization existsnow, nor has ever existed. The Old South was built by people helping each other out. Contracts were made by a handshake. Men were men, and yankees were yankees. The FBI has always been an enemy of the South, fabricating lies and accusations. you are wrong..... there was really a Dixie Mafia. If you read the book "Mississippi Mud", it is a true story of what actually happened. Not sure if it is still in existence today, but I wouldn't be surprised it is!

"The Dixie Mafia is a very much alive, very large (and growing), very well organized group of criminals and they literally blanket the south".
"A cheap punk who is a member of both the Outlaws AND the Dixie Mafia has a "contract" to kill me right now".
I doubt the "contract" but would definitely believe there may be a few "warrants" out on you. You are a certifiable idiot.

All of the so called "king pins" that have been mentioned looked up to Carlos Marcello. Everyone that owned businesses assumed to be ran by the "mafia" were good people. The fact that some of you make comments about it never existing obviously do not have any relatives that were around those days. If you did, you could ask them how real the Dixie Mafia was. Being a decendent of known members, I grew up hearing all of the witnessed stories.

While there has been a lot said about the so called "Dixie Mafia", there is certainly no denying that there was a microcosm of corruption that permeated the Gulf Coast during the late 60s and early 70s. I knew the D'Angelo family very well and regret the terrible demise of Dewey; however, my uncle also met a terrible demise - a mystery that I am still trying to solve nearly 30 years later. Deano, sorry about your recent fall in Pensacola. Gina and Tammy, I know not where you are today. And Dot, I hope you are all well.

From my understanding, the Dixie Mafia is an old term used to classify old Southern gangsters. Im talking the old south, 1890's to 1950's.
Macon, wow, you should write a FICTION book on this subject. You did however have me laughing my ass off.

While I was not related to Carlos he and my mom dated as youngsters. They remained friends through her life and he told me to call him Uncle Carlos. I used to laugh growing up on the coast when aquaintences would tell me this person or that person was in the Mafia, So yes Migues I did know Carlos and I called him Uncle Carlos

Y'know, I've harassed a lot of websites to get them to take down wild stories and accusations about my g-uncle Dewey. People forget that children do genealogy projects and stuff online. I am not old enough to know all of the 'inside' stories and I admit to being curious, but I know enough to recognize the pure b.s. that so many people say. If this topic must continue on, please remember to respect the memory of the dead for the sake of their survivors. Thank you.

Interesting how everyone discusses the old stories. None want to talk about what's still going on. The elected officials who are still in office with the ties to organized crime.
