It is obvious that we need prayer back in our schools. There are petitions going around in BSG and our neighboring towns and counties that you can sign, these will be sent to our state government! Please give your support to this, so many of our school children are in need of our prayers and support. it's time we take a stand and show what the "Bible Belt" was named for!

Its unconstitutional....that is why a government building and a gathering in a government building can only have a what is called a moment of silence..to pray, or not to pray a that time is private with each person but it cannot be called prayer...

What kinda prayer you gonna have? Baptist? Methodist? Catholic? or even Buddist or Muslim? One of the biggest FALSEHOODS is that prayer is banned in schools--it is NOT!! Students can pray anytime they want, but the mandatory non-inclusive, school-led prayers HAVE been declared illegal. I am always a little suspicious anyways about people who need to do their praying in a mob in public--is it just to be seen? |

Let's bring back paddling to the school .That will get a lot better outcome on the kids than prayer will. I'm sorry but the school needs a LOT more control on so of our children than they are aloud.You never had school shootings back when the school had more control over the kids.

REMEMBER??! Paddling or spanking is unethical and inhumane. Look at all the hell they gave Kate (Jon & Kate + 8) for swatting her kid.
But seriously, did you know that they still allow it in some places in the US? That being the case, it must not be so bad. |

First to respond to the "unconstitutional" NO sorry you are wrong, this country was founded on Religion and prayer, that is why they fled to this new country beause they were not allowed to have their "freedom" of religion. It is a shame that we are not allowed to pray in public but my children are taught in school they came from monkeys, or they have to be subjected to things that God calls abominations. Second, one problem is that people are so wrapped up in what "demonination" you are. Fact is God is God, there is only one! We are teaching our children it is ok to wear satanic shirts, dress, and behave as they want because they should be free, but you are not allowed to say a prayer. Yes there are "moments of silence" but most kids don't even know what that is suppose to be used for! I believe that you should start at home in teaching your children right from wrong, but sad part is most are not being taught anything, except to disrespect authority and each other! As far as praying to a mob in public........yes that is to be seen and to be a light for Jesus Christ, who loves you and died so that you may be saved! God will turn his back on a nation that turns their back on him, consider what this will mean! We are a blessed nation but we are losing our blessing day by day! People wonder why things are so bad........ |

I think these laws were passed to protect the people from overzealous religious beliefs . Look how bad the muslim countrys are .

I have read up on my ancestral history and I don't remember anything about us fleeing to this country for religious reasons. I do want prayer to be in school but the argument you gave for it is ridiculous. |

You need to under stand the constitution before you start talking religion in schools. Do your job as a parent and teach your children to pray, this is not the job of public schools. It is the job of family and your church.

1 I certainly respect your right to have your own religious beliefs, as I am a spiritual person myself. However...the founding fathers took great care to establish a SECULAR nation, not a theocracy. Also, children ARE allowed to pray in school, but the mandatory state-sponsored prayer has been found to be unconstitutional. As for "monkeys", why is it not possible that evolution is part of God's plan of creation? And...check out Matthew, Chapter 6 about the "praying in public." Again, i respect your right to your beliefs, but i diasagree with your assessment of our founding fathers, many of whom WERE indeed of strong faith, but some were not really extreme about it...such as Washington being described as a "Lukewarm Anglican" or Jefferson often being described as a "Deist." |

Freedoms you speak of are the freedom to practice any religion you want without the fear of persecution. The separation of church and state was to assure that the government did not become mandated by ANY religion. Therefore if you want your child to be able to openly pray in school, you need to put them in a private school. In a publicly funded school aka tax dollars paying for it, there cannot be open prayer. That is why it is called a moment of silence, so you can pray if you want, you can count ceiling tiles if you want, or you can dre4am about what you want for dinner tomorrow, anything you want, just a moment to do what you see fit

You have hit this issue square on . We don't need religion shoved down our kids throat . If it gets inside the schools that will become the course that they will teach, next we will have our kids brainwashed like they are in Iran, Afghanistan an Pakistan . I for one don't want some IahAtolia telling us how to live our life. |

Well I can see why prayer was taken, because people wouldn't take a stand. I thought this area would be proud to stand up and say we still want God in our childrens lives. Maybe it was just the people who come to this site that are against it, most would rather talk about drugs, who's ratting on who, etc. So sad........ Someone said they didn't want religion shoved down our kids throats, well I guess you would rather have drugs, sex and anthing unGodly instead.

But...some of the problems with this might be things like...WHAT religion? What denomination? Who decides? What if a class has Baptists, Catholics, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist and Atheists? What then? Since I am a spiritual person myself I see no problem with "God in people's lives." But, having MANDATORY prayers in school becomes somewhat problematic. Just my opinion.... |

Um.... Our kids are already being brainwashed by the United States Government have been for a long time.
|
||||
Do you have evidence of this alleged "brainwashing" or is this just some Limbaugh/Beck/Savage rants? |
