I am all for free markets, but these...jerks (I'd use a worse word if I could) on the stupid trading market are taking whatever minuscule reason they can to drive the price up...there is no reason...NO! reason the oil prices should be this high...Another example of the uber-rich making more money off the working poor.

The demand is high - prices go up. The demand is low - prices go up. Some government official in some country we bearly know anything about farts - prices go up. When is it ever ok to lower the prices to something that EVERYONE can afford? This just makes me sick. I'm ready to sell my car and take public transportation to work every day (which I should do anyway but I like my independence to come and go as I please). I just hope that somewhere along the line, the oil prices drop to an all-time low and these idiots making money off of us will be in the same position as the working class. Let them walk in our shoes for a month and see how they like it.

All I can say is that somebody better stop playing around. I mean 1 week gas goes up and then the next week it goes down and then back up again. I saw a gas station in Parkville raise it's prices 11 cents overnight last week. I mean if that is not gauging than what is it? Who can we go to to help us? Congress is just going to laugh at us and say too bad deal with it. So since I can work at home I might as well stay here and get cabin fever. So either way I'm screwed.

We are all screwed by Congress. I don't want to vote for anyone. I am scared that Bush really, really did this country in. They still have NO idea as to how this really effects us.

In actuallity , oil is at the price now that it should be at.
The problem is that the dollar is weak... also during the early 80's we were all getting effecient automobiles and trying to do what needed to be done to conserve our natural resources... what happened? Saudie Arabia flooded the market and made the prices fall that's what happened... that was the worst economy we ever had in this area... whole families were out of work displaced from their jobs etc... all the while they were talking on the news about how good the economy was... more people lost jobs in the oil industry than all the farmers and auto workers and steel industry workers combined... we were never mentioned... They bragged about all the jobs being created for us... yeah minumin wage jobs... Then everyone started acting like everything was cool all through the 90's... but it wasn't... We still had to do something about the oil ... We cannot continue to use up the oil like everything is OK... You guys are acting like there are a lot of people getting rich by these new high oil prices but in actuality the prices are what they should be when compared to what they were in the 80's...
If the oil price finally gets high enough people might realize that they have to do something else before it is too late... we use way too much oil people... we have the technology right now to run the whole USA off of solar and wind power... that would still leave transportation on fossel fuels...
You can't blame it on the presedent though... and people in the oil industry have been warning people in the government about this for years... even I knew about it...
Also if oil prices fell off to nothing it wouldn't be some imaginary oil executives that would suffer... it would be hard working men like me that would be getting laid off trying to figure out how to keep from losing our homes, that's who would suffer, and our children and grandchildren... and our wives... and all the businesses in Big Spring would start closing down again... we wen't through years of that... somehow we forgot and got greedy buying gas guzzling cars etc... well in the real world we are using oil up faster than the world is producing it...(it takes millions of years to make oil out of decayed life forms) and oil will run out some day... think about that...
I wish gas was more affordable too, but we are the ones that quit buying gas effecient automobiles etc... we were fooled into believing that there was no energy crises... fooled by the media and the government... if you guys had been paying attention it wouldn't have been such a suprise. We need oil... we need to conserve our natural resources... we need to all do our part and quit trying to blame everything on the president... he didn't do it... hell he couldn't have done that even if he'd have wanted to...

We need oil and we need it now, drill everywhere, Anwar, the coast of California, the coast of Florida. Everywhere theres oil, we need to be going after it. We need nuclear power in abundance, to the point we over produce. We should have been doing this 20+ years ago.
