I eat kitty and it's delicious. Hairless kitty not only looks great and don't have claws. Next Beverly Hills will outlaw piercing your kitty and that impact the jewelry makers. It seems as though Beverly Hills are a bunch of flaiming westside liberals who just want to get into peoples pants. Too much influence from the Catholic Church. First the children, now society.

This country is in the worst economic crisis since the great depression and the best the lawmakers of BH can come up with is to outlaw the declawing of cats......unbelievable.

HELL YEAH!!! I'm hoping that Beverly Hills will follow in the path of West Hollywood and outlaw the declawing of cats. It is nothing but surgical mutilation. If people are so damn concerned about their funiture, then they have no business getting a cat. That's as dumb as one having a tooth ache, yet deciding to still eat a shit load of candy anyway. Can't have it both ways folks. Let the cat be a cat, or teach your funiture to curl up beside you and purr. And for that shit veterinarian, Dr. Mark Nunez? I know who he is and he is, and as far as I'm concerned, he's not even fit to smell my cats' litter box. I'm not surprised that he's for the declawing. For one, he's not being ask to have his fingernails surgically removed and, second, it's all about money for his dumb ass. He's a disgrace to cats and the whole veterinarian community as a whole.

Are you NUTS? Yeah, it's about time Beverly Hills, or any city for that matter, finally said NO to declawing. If people weren't so stupid as to allow this surgical mutilation for their cats, then DUH, we wouldn't need for the city to step in and SAY NO TO DECLAWING.

Yes. It's about time these lawmakers gave a damn about cats and declawing. Cats didn't cause this depression we're in, so why should matters concerning them be put on the back burner?

"we have to do what we feel is right for us."

Thus showeth the ever increasing length to which OUR government extends it's noses into OUR lives. The likes of Mirisch need to realized that what they "feel is right for us" doesn't have anything to do with government. They should do what is right for ALL the voters not just ones with petty simplilstic ideas about how other people should live!

You obviously are very passionate about declawing. I, too, don't declaw my cats but that is my decision, not some governmental dimwit. Go phouck yourself and stop imposing your paranoia on everybody else.

Perhaps if you learned proper grammar, internet etiquette and how to spell, you could get a job and stop worrying about friggin' cats and politicians!

Seriously, is this really an issue that a city council should be giving attention to? Liberals are going nuts using government powers. Government is getting into far too many aspects of our lives. Some people let a little power go completely to their heads.

This is as stupid as Schwarzenegger making us pay to reduce our "carbon footprints!"

BTW, the bums in Sacramento responsible for this latest 10% state income tax spike are going to pay with their jobs.

Is killing thosands and thosands of cats humane? all the people please help you want to help cats; they are being murdered by the thosands by our own cities to which we pay taxes to care for them. the current word for "shelters" is killing machines.

Socialism micromanaging peoples lives. What business is it of government to dictate how one should live? Why do you still call this country America land of the free when there is no freedom?

Seriously, when are you people going to stop allowing the government to tell you how to run your life? We keep giving in and giving and they keep restricing and banning. It is unbelievable to me. WAKE UP AMERICA!!

This has been going around the different ca cities. While declawing a cat might not be a good thing, does the government tell us to not circumsize our babies, not get breast implants or piercings??? not yet but at this rate if the American people don't do something togather it will happen.
This is such hypocrisy as in Santa Monica, LA and SAC the gov. has recently for months been killing thousands of cats!!!! this is proof!

I go over to their homes and declaw them for free. It may take awhile to complete the procedure.

I have had cats for many years. Only one did I have to have declawed and that was because he had extra toes growing through the pads of his front feet and the claws were erupting from the pads. I can tell you that I did this only because to not do so would have done more harm than good. However, I can also tell you that I would never do it again, EXCEPT for to save their life, because that cat suffered. The vet was excellent and did an excellent job, but the cat had a horrible time adjusting to the loss. Most vets I have spoken to will not do this procedure except as a last resort. And those who describe it as having your fingernails removed are right. My furniture I can replace.
