Clarke encouraged court staff to communicate with their managers and union representatives. Oh, could it be the unions that started this whole mess?

I am pretty confident that as long as you blame the unions, our politicians go unscathed in this mess. I think the issues the state of California is facing need much better management. So far all I've been seeing is manglement... Schools, our court systems,I mean this is really terrible! Our standard of living is being challenged, and there seems to be no end in sight. Politicians are happy when the public blames the unions for ruining the state, as it takes the heat off them, where it really belongs.

You are right, it is a conspiracy with two parts: the unions AND the politicians.

But in the final analysis, people get the kind of government they deserve. Most Californians have ignored politics, and left it to the unions and hacks. They were too busy. The Lakers game was too important.

California is a JOKE! Watching it is like watching a drunk totter down the street doing one disgusting thing after another.

If there are good people in California, they need to wake up and take control.

Government NEVER SOLVES PROBLEMS, it only creates problems.

The LA Superior Court is a nice 19th century institution with 19th century management and 19th century procedures.

It is drowning in a sea of stupid and poorly written laws, ordinances and local rules. It stopped serving the people of Los Angeles decades ago and serves only as a jobs program and a profit center for attorneys.

The "rule of law" as it stands in March of 2010.

Decades of mismanagement and poor vision have ruined the court system in California. Every time I see a commercial for some fly-by-night school offering a degree in court reporting I cringe. Considering there has been a hiring freeze for a long time now, it's false advertising and gives false hope to those affected by our poor economy.
Sorry, I got on a tangent, lol. Seriously, something more efficient needs to be done. The state of California is letting down the people that are going to be laid off and the people that rely on the services the court offers, i.e. the article mentioned child support and protective orders. This fall from grace is the equivalent of a horrifying train wreck.

The start should be this...and I could care less if I am called a racist; The local, state and federal governments should slam shut the borders to both legal and ILLEGAL non-Americans no matter where they come from (notice I did NOT single out the worst offenders, Mexicans...I said ALL). Stop the anchor baby program..if YOU are either parent and you are not legal..then neither should be that seventh kid you popped out you can't afford. After the borders, including airports, harbors, and any other means of invading the country are shut. Find ALL those no matter where they are from, no matter the continent, no matter race, creed, color, etc...etc...and remove them ALL. Begin charging ANY government for ANY monies spent on ANY person not legally in this country. Deport ALL of them that do NOT have a proper and legal right in this country. There is NO reason that low level prisons can't pick our produce to pay for their own incarceration. There is NO reason that the youth that is legally here can't mow lawns and work at Mc.Donalds as was done but 25 years ago. There is NO reason to house, educate, incarcerate, employ, medically treat, feed, or otherwise provide ANY service to ANYONE not here legally under our current laws and laws that would be created to implement this program. This country can no longer afford to take care of the rest of the world. PERIOD!!! Again, this is not about race, color or national origin other then the fact that only legal persons now in this country, should be getting anything or any benifit whatsoever. Having done ALL that...the money wasted, the monies not recuperated from other countries to take care of THEIR people and all the financial and social ills with change overnight for the better. I would say I'm sorry that Obama and all his one world government ilk are not going to have their way, but I am not. Enough of this garbage...kick all those out who are not here with legal papers and let no one in until the United States of America returns to a much better situation. Again, for those wearing the hockey helmets and riding the short, yellow busses who wish to attack me, knock your socks off. I could care less. What I do care for is the fact that the American way of life is being destroyed. In closing, I could also care even less about all that has gone on in this country with legal and illegal immigration; This country simply cannot afford the status quo any longer. God bless Americans and America.

And, to put finer point on things as they are; This ENTIRE world needs population control. There is no reason, no matter if someone can afford it or not, to have more then two kids. The world is overpopulated and things needed to sustain life are going to run out sooner, not later.

I heard a program yesterday discussing the Post Office and how they want to stop Saturday delivery the impact on people not getting checks and medicine could be devastating. One caller who worked at the Post Office said there are 80 people and 8 supervisors at his Post Office, My suggestion is lay off managers first at the Post Office, DMV , Courts and any other State Department that would save a lot then lets see how effective people are who know their jobs are on the line just like in the private sector.

Finally layoffs are starting to affect the city employees of LA. The private sector has been layoffing for years. It's the only way to meet the budget. Anyone that's ever gone to a city offices, knows that they are overstaffed with people that don't want to work. You're just a bother to them when you come in.

It seems like that if everyone took a 15% paycut then there would not be any need for layoffs, but that is not going to happen, because a lot of the people are now being paid too much! I guess what goes around comes around to your organization too.

Good golly, Molly. You're incorrigible.

Thank God they finally woke up. How many cases are in the endless search for the paperwork, They acually have a dump room in which you hope one day the Baliff who dropped jelly roll on it for 3 weeks will move it over,The waste as Judges sit thier and do nothin. We were there down town for a TRO and had to wait as the clerk came in with her two kids after a vacation and went into chambers for 15 minutes while we sat outside,Dont get me started on Matasinka who died a few years back who would cast out one bad decision after another and get away with it as my action was not worth the appeal,The attached party won an appeal as there was more at stake,Screw them all keep cutting thier jobs and stop the waste the damn baliff sat there reading the paper and never looked up could have chocked out the judge and sat back down the jackass would have never stopped reading the paper, half are like a parade of Zombies.

Good. Police lie and spin their stories, DA's love to prosecute to get more brownie points. The DA's that promote their witnesses to lie in order to get a conviction. The judges that sit there and allow all this to happen. What is with a grand jury? It is just used by the DA's office to quickly get what they want--to be able to charge someone with a crime. Instead of having to show if there is actually any evidence, the grand jury will surely rule for the prosecution. We need to get rid of the grand jury. I have seen all this happen. All this is a huge waste of tax payers dollars. This state needs to look at and fix the broken so-called justice system. It is a vicious cycle, because the police, DA's and judges all need each other to stay working.
