the school board can't even afford to have their bus radios repaired and they want to waste money on this? Why in hell is the football program more important than books or our childrens safety? The school board should concentrate on education instead of football.

You might check and you will find all the other counties already have turf. The football players and sports program deserve the same. Floyd was falling behind and it is time they updated. Academics is number one, however, athletics plays a big part in developing our children and they deserve nice facilities. Should our children play in the mud while Pike and Johnson play on turf. I don't think so. Thanks to the Floyd County Board for their effort to make Floyd equal to or better than surrounding counties. They were a little late but late is better than never. THANKS from a sports loving parent.

Sometimes renovations like that are a good thing. A few years back they installed air conditioning at the Betsy Layne Dome. Makes for a much better graduation ceremony everyone can enjoy instead of sweating and hoping it ends soon.

Right! Because playing in a gym or on a field is way more important. Please!

I think the only time education was a priority in Floyd County was when Dr. Paul Fanning was superintendent. They should bring him back.

really, look at the test scores. Priorities. That is what happens when you let a bunch of "coaches" run your school system.

Daily Horoscope for May 18

Pisces

There's a clash today between the past and the present. Someone wants to dwell nostalgically on the good old days but someone else is determined to forget all that and only concentrate on the here and now. The trouble is that neither side will want to concede to the other person's point of view, leading to bad feelings and upsets. If you are one of these people, try not to be too entrenched in your own opinions.
