I started reading this comment thread and was impressed people could actually leave normal and decent comments. Then I got to the rude ones. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

Bravo to this mother!! I hope any young women, currently facing similar situations, hear of this woman's courageous and selfless act, and do the same. Hopefully she has made it a great Christmas for a deserving family.

I think this is a great law and I am glad that the mother left her baby in a safe place. However, I wonder if making such big news out of this is the right thing to do. If a girl out there is considering safely leaving a baby - she might be scared away by all this publicity.
I think we need to promote the law - but lay off on all the details. I would hate to think that a baby died because the mother felt unsafe leaving the baby in a hospital or other safe location.

Finally, a good story with a happy ending and involving a good law. God bless the little guy and his mother for doing the right thing. And as shocking as this may seem, thank you Nassau County for providing such a clear, simple and good law. Good deeds done by all.
Happy Holidays!!!

What a great thing for that mother to do. I just read an article about someone leaving a baby in a dumpster. Thank goodness this mother didn't do the same. At least she had a heart. Happy holidays to this mother. Thank goodness there are safe havens. I'll bet this baby gets adopted in a minute.
