welcome the the basd soap opera. voters it's time to get these overgrown, whining, sniveling misbehaving brats off the board. this district also needs a new superintendent - someone who is not a sneaking, lying, scum.
wake up basd voters, clean house when these idiots come up for re-election - don't vote for them - remove them. then, maybe, just maybe, the basd will get a really good superintendent as well as a board that will help the district instead of fighting like kindergartners all the time. |

"I didn't need their opinion."
This says it all. Seems like there's a real ego problem and power trip going on, nevermind how improper it is to write a letter on behalf of the Board without letting the entire Board see it. |

Let's see, you have Leeson quoted as interpreting the law without input from an attorney. You have two different attorneys saying the actions related to this letter were likely in violation of the law. You have one signee backpeddling, saying the letter may have been sent in haste and was not fair.
Sounds like a screw-up to me... |

What an embarrassment. Do these people enjoy being the laughing stock of the valley?

wonder if she is getting advice from her husband who is an attorney and instead of the boards lawyer |

maybe we should put the children in charge of the board instead of the so called adults

How about Dr. Haytmanek's comment? "This is war." That's scary

We already have, apparently! |

I agree that BASD needs a complete housecleaning. The superintendent must go and the board needs to be redone as well. I hope the taxpayers will vote foe having some sensible people on the board in the future. A little power, in the hands of some people, goes to their head and look what happens!

it sure is |

This action by the Leeson led board is no surprise. It's standard operating procedure for her.
Just ask anyone who has been associated with organizations that she has led. She's a divider not capable of leadership. She will leave BASD worse for the wear. That's been her track record. |

The superintendent can't go. He pushed through an early extension of his last contract before his cronies on the board left. He makes as much as the superintendent of Pittsburgh's school now, with a very generous package of benefits. This is a five year contract with over four years to go, so you folks better get used to having Lewis around.

Letters are an important communication method. Additionally it is a written record of the writers intent to express themselves. It is tangible and can be used in negotiations. By putting things into writing it gives things a new dimension in reality. I applaud these elected Board members for their efforts- even excluding those Board members who did not attend the April 23 meeting!
“The district's lawyer, Donald Spry, said the letter was written without his input.” Well now, anytime a lawyer attends a public board meeting they (the lawyer) severely limits his performance with in their capacity because by “publicly” conferring with his clients -his clients forfeit some of the client-attorney privileges, possibly leading to “unethical behavior” by the attorney- who would want to endanger this professional by conferring in public with him? “Craig T. Haytmanek, said,''I am offended that an important letter of reprimand was directed to Dr. Lewis and also to Mr. Majewski in my absence and the letter of reprimand was not circulated to the entire board. This is war.''“ Well a leopard never changes his spots! Joe Lewis has himself another medical doctor who is elected President of the Board- PMSD had a Dentist! Given Dr. Haytmanek was also president of the medical staff and chairman of the executive and credentials committees for St. Luke's Hospital- I am not surprised by his response. “Emily Leader, deputy chief counsel for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, disagreed, saying school boards should share all information with all members.''There would be an argument of whether or not you are excluding elected officials from carrying out their duties,'' Leader said.” Of course Ms Leader would object and come to the defense of a member of the organization she represents. The Lobbying Expenses for this organization can be found here- http://www.pasenategop.com/lobbyists/organdlo... And here- http://www.pasenategop.com/lobbyists/organdlo... Maybe Ms Leader should review the $9BILLION spent on Education Lobbying here- http://www.pasenategop.com/lobbyists/policyde... Good job ladies your letter was wonderful! |
Great response WAWA. a classic, textbook "Straw Man" retort |

Look...read the story here...Leeson and Co should be applauded for refusing to put up with the nonsense of Lewis, Majewsji, et all. Oh boy, they demanded accountability and now its "war". Look at the sense of entitlement and eltism from Lewis Haytmanek, Amato and all the other anti Leeson flunkies. ITs all politics here and it comes down to Leeson trying to do things right and the other hacks trying to suck as much out of the system as possible...I say keep up the good work Loretta...youve got my support and a lot of other people

The letter was not written in public; there was no need for the attorney to review the letter in public. Your point makes no sense.
What does having a doctor as Board president have to do with anything? What the heck are you saying? Your comment about the lawyer for the Board lobbying organization also makes no sense. That organization represents ALL of the BASD board members, including the five that signed the letter. Why would the attorney defend only the three directors over the other five directors, unless the three were right? And, the lawyer for the newspaper association also questioned the legality. Ill-conceived screw-ups like this by the Leeson/Dexter duo only cement Lewis' power, not undermine it. He now has another legal chip he can play if it ever comes to that...

And you wonder why the children in school act the way they do!
What role models? Clean house already! |

Leeson and Dexter are the problem not the solution for BASD. Why are board members leaving with tongue in cheek reasons for doing so? They are serving Hanover Township only, and not the entire District. They must be defeated in the next election for BASD, in order to bring civlity back to BASD. Please have them remove their blinders and themselves, as they are the most narrow minded people we have ever had on BASD.

I have to disagree. From what I know, it wasn't that several board members did not attend, but that those several board members were not even invited/notified. That's a HUGE difference. "Not attending" implies those members knew about the executive meeting, but voluntary choose not to attend for some reason or another. Not being even notified that there was going to be an executive meeting, is playing dirty politics. And that speaks loudly, of the complete lack of character from those board members who did hold this "secret" meeting. SHAME ON YOU! |
