While you are at it, Mr. Pink, play the tiny little violin for all the waitresses.

I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's messed up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government mistreats on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college garbage I got two words for that: learn to type,'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big surprise.

I am getting sick and tired of EVERYONE having a tip jar on the counter, Subways, pizza, etc.
The Sub Stop in New Oxford has one and the workers are the owners, for the most part. I only tip when the non owner girls are working, as Im sure they are not making much of a guaranteed wage.

a continuation form above.

of course you could tip on the "nipple factor".

Depending on how far the owners nippers are sticking out since she obviously doesnt have a clue to what a bra is. Or her boney ass is exposed while your eating. She isnt even pretty.

Totally classless!

Some of you people should not go out. I always tip 20%.
I agree. I start at 20% and if the person was really nice I give more, if they were jerks (which is actually pretty rare) I'll give 15%. I won't penalize mistakes as long as they have a good sense of humor about it. Nobody's perfect.

If the food was cold, wasn't good etc I don't take it out on the server. Depending on the problem I'll give the restaurant another chance or two and if it keeps happening I'll stop going there.

As far as building the tip into the wage, I wouldn't be against it. They do it in Europe and in France being a waiter is a pretty high profile career.

I never heard of any place around Bethlehem automatically adding a % of the tip on a eatery bill ? I'll be sure never to go there if I know they did.

My daughter is a server and brings home at least 700.00.week. Can you say the same moron? Many of these waitresses make more than educated people that can't find a real job are are working for hardly any money at all. They do it by choice, not because they can't get another job.
What a useless ignorant fool you are.
700 bucks a week? Maybe I could go to the "restaurant" your daughter works at and she could "serve" me a lap dance or a hand job in the back room.

Could someone please tell me what sense the tipping scale really makes. If I order an Absolute on the rocks (to which drinks are over-priced to begin with) why do I have to tip that much more just because I didn't order a glass of water or ice-tea?

I am a server. We rely on out tips and do not make minimum wage. I do not get a paycheck because my taxes from my tips are taken out of my check. When you do not leave a tip YOU cost me money. I am also tipping out a certain percentage of my sales to a bar staff and food walker with my tips.

I am not a high school drop out. I am a mom who likes the flexability of staying home during the day with my kids and attending all school and sporting events.

People tip according to the service they receive. So if you receive crappy tips, you may want to review what you are doing to cause crappy tips.

Actually, some people are just cheap or have miserable lives and get to take it out on an innocent worker. I'm not saying all servers are good, but there are a lot of good ones who deserve our respect and a fair tip.

I agree with you. If you get bad service, then yes, don't tip well or at all. It's just unfortunate that some people take advantage of the situation. And I don't think that some realize that the servers get paid under min. wage per hour and rely on their tips. I wish they would just get paid a wage like everyone else and no one would have to worry about tips.

The people scamming you in all this is the owner of the diners, restaurants and other eating establishments. They get away with paying less than the minumum wage and adverstising what great prices they have. Any business could have great prices if it didn't have to pay employee wages. Imagine if the guy who fixes your car depended on a 'tip' from you to survive, or after you check out of a grocery store you have to 'tip' the checker. Going to a doctor and 'tipping' the nurse or medical assistant.

The concept is ridiculous. The United States is actually one of the few places that even has tipping like we do it. We wouldn't think of 'tipping' any of the other scenerios, then why this one?

Restaurant owners need to pay fair wages and benefits to its employees like other industries do.
