Please wait...
Be it development of Clarke Industrial (after the vacancies are filled) or development of Rt. 6, we must grow our tax base so that the burden is not 85% on the homeowner. We've reached the limit of what people can afford, so the only place left to look is at the top line. Appropriate and managed growth will enable needed infrastructure improvements and other capital needs. And, we should not assume retail would be the only potential developer. Wouldn't it be wonderful if a high tech or research firm moved in? Less traffic and high paying jobs. But leaving the zoning alone as it is for Rt. 6 limits choices and opportunities for Bethel.

You're a pompous ass with no credibility. Are you that insecure that you have to pretend to be a know-it-all/expret on every topic related to Bethel?
You're a laughingstock, little guy.

Burke NEVER attended a zoning board meeting during the 1970's, 80 or 90's as a member. But that's not the issue. I hope Costco build on the Stony Hill Inn property, have you eaten any thing in that dump in the last 5-years? Gross! We need the Tax Base now. And I live in the Chimmey Hghts area.

Can anyone in Bethel make a point without being nasty, mean-spirited and immature? You people are not making a good impression on anyone who's thinking of living in Bethel. It's like the reaction I always had when I drove through the Bronx in the 70's - ughhh!

I wonder what Costco would do with that Swan Pond at the Stony Hill Inn? Guess they'd want to fill it in with gravel, like they wanted to do with the wetlands in Brookfield... Hey, it's been done before, like the White Turkey Inn site which became "Michael's". Then when it floods, they wonder why?
