I would like to thank all the citizens of Wolfe County who have supported us, Wolfe Co Fire EMS,all these years. I have been in the business for 20 years and have never worked with a better group of people,we all know the truth about what medicare\mcaid pays or should I say doesn't pay. We all know the time , hard work and dedication the men and women of Wolfe Co Fire EMS have put in. Ignorant people will always have negative things to say just remember they are not only hurting us but all of Wolfe Co and humanity in general.
Woo hoo!!! Somebody put their real name on here. A brave soul indeed.

When I worked for the ambulance service, Jerry's role was company treasurer. When Jim Tyra stepped down as director, Jerry took over.

Not like the ambulance service it the fire department does anything for the county. If u wad dying u could save yourself before the ambulance came and u could get your house put out before the fire department came . I see them always just sitting around or washing their own vehicles or working on them. Didn't know the fire department was their own personal garage.. Even the police is awful here. What a pathetic place to live.

Also the fire department needs to do a better job at who they let volunteer. Just letting any bum off the streets isn't a good idea. Maybe set some standards for Pete's sake. Like ppl with training and certifications

Have you ever needed an ambulance in this county? There are always one or two in a crowd that are bad eggs, but they eventually get weeded out and it all goes smooth. And if you ever had a problem with someone on the ambulance, all you had to do was call and let the management know. They always took care of the problem I work for 2 ambulance services in surrounding counties of Wolfe. I have to work at 2 ambulance services to make ends meet because in EMS you're lucky to get $7.50-$8.00 an hour. One of the services is doing better than the other, all because of the new insurance guidelines. Medicare charges $11 a mile when using an ambulance, not the service its self. To save people money, instead of doing itemized billing for each little supply used, a flat rate is charged. So if you get a bill for $900, that's the flat rate. If it was itemized, you'd be charged for oxygen, bandaids, gauze, each time your vital signs were taken, etc. Your bill could then end up being over $1000. But when you send a bill of $900 to medicare/medicaid/insurance and they only pay $100 for that bill, what is the ambulance service suppose to do? They can't pay their employees. Lay offs can only be done for so long until you have no one to work. And as far as the new service not staging at the county garage, well when they get sued for wrongful death due to their response times, things will change and people will regret all their badmouthing of the decent people that worked at Wolfe Co EMS.
That is what I am talking about, the billing. They need to bill for each and every little thing. If they do, then they will get more money than a flat rate. NOt only that, from what I can see on the kentucky website, they don't have to itemize these little things, just use one general code for supplies, another for the run itself, and another for the mileage rate. Even if they did have to itemize the supplies, it would be beneficial in the long run to the ambulance service and the citizens of wolfe county. Maybe then, the EMS workers could be paid more and maybe the citizens of wolfe county would have better and more EMS workers.

Have you ever had to use the services of the EMS or Fire station? If not then keep your mouth shut. I know for a fact that the Fire department moves pretty fast considering how rural we are. Me and my family has to use thier services at least twice in my lifetime. Both the Campton and Hazel Green fire departments.
If you don't like Wolfe COunty leave. No one is making you stay here.

Actually I have and Lexington ambulance and fire department would have gotten there faster. Like I said they need more than bums running it or drug heads and they might get some results.

the former Wolfe county ems was managed and ran better than the fiscal court is being managed and ran. cause when the ems had a meeting there was more than three people there and everybody there voted on it and the fiscal court only had three people there at there private meeting that no one knowed about. at this meeting Dennis brooks, Sam lowe, and the owner of breathitt trans star made the decision on letting Aerowood the owner of Breathitt trans star take over. and did not let the ems or the citizens of wolfe county vote on it.just to let every body know aerowood has only been in the ems for three months and he thinks that he can make a ambulance service work then let him go in the hole at buying supplys and mantaince on the ambulances that the fiscal court owns and has given to him to run out of. and if it was not for Jerry we would not have lasted as long as we had.

Caldwell, And you have ever right not to like my puncuation just as I have a right not to use spell check while in a gossip forum
My point was - you shouldn't need spell check - you should know how to spell opinions if you want to be an elected official. I want the people that are running my county to be able to speak proper English, know how to spell words correctly, how to write a proper sentence.
It is a reflection on our entire community.
If you are contemplating running for public office, it doesn't matter what forum you are using to offer your opinions.
And...actually, you probably shouldn't be on a gossip forum if you want to be an elected official - especially if you are going to use your correct name. Some of these opinions may come back to haunt you.

He may not be able to spell well enough to suit you, but hell! George W. Bush was dyslexic and couldn't talk, yet he got elected for President of the US. So maybe grammar and spelling are not on the top of everyone's priority list after all? Just sayin'...

As of right now, Arrowmed is using 15 employees to staff Wolfe and Breathitt. How long can that work before it's a problem?
And to the person called MEB, although no one knows your true identity, don't play dumb. Who has ever heard of KACO other than the people involved in the county government? I seriously doubt you could go on the street and ask someone what KACO is and get an honest answer. So although no one knows who you are, we can assume you are involved in the fiscal court somehow. You know too much about what was said in the meeting to not be involved, so quit playing dumb... unless you just want to prove you are ignorant.
Frankly, I do not owe anyone an explantion of who I am, but I can assure you I am not a government employee, I am not an elected official, and I am, in no way, affiliated with the Fiscal Court or the Ambulance Service. I was not at the meeting that was held Friday, even though I knew about it.
The fact is there are some people in this community that care about what happens to our county. I know what KACO is and have for many years because I read newspapers, watch news, attend meetings, read web news. It is not a secret - municipalities and government entities would not survive without KACO.
I have enough intelligence to listen to both sides, to wade through the bias, research these organizations, and come to a fairly unbiased opinion. This ambulance service is a privately owned business that operates under the guise of a 501(c)3 non-profit status that pays its top level management inflated salaries and is not willing to take cuts to get back on its feet until the managed care insurance billing agency gets them their money.
All of this information is available online if you are willing to wade through all the red-tape.
I haven't called anyone that works for the ambulance service or any of our elected officials derogatory names - not necessary.
I want my elected magistrate and my county judge to take care of tax-payer money and spend it wisely.
And...I can assure you I am neither ignorant, dumb, or uninformed.

So, please, explain to me where you read this in my post.
Where do I say, by implication or specifics, that I did not want am ambulance service in my community??
I want an ambulance service that is run fiscally responsible, cut out salaries for top management for a few months, reinvest into the business, and plan ahead to have enough money in the bank to be able to sustain itself for a few months until they receive their money from Medicaid and Medicare billing agencies.
This should be run like any other business or non-profit and not expect the county or city to bail them out.
Please, don't read into this something I did not say.
