As for me, I find the ban on fireworks and more specifically the '"zero-tolerance" policy adopted by Urbandale to be purely anti-America. As an American/Iowan/Urbandalian, I have a god-given right to blow stuff up to celebrate our independence. Just think, over 100 years ago, our forefathers fought and won it's independence from the Germans with the intention of building a free nation. A nation to be built on life, liberty, and the pursuit to blow stuff up in firey awesomeness. What is July 4th without fireworks? Are we gonna let our crotchety Canadian neighbors win? To quote patriot John Boener, "Hell no we aren't!". So when those pesky socialist policeman come to your house and ask you if you have fireworks, what do you say? You say, "Get off my property you soviet spy! Yeah I have fireworks! Come the fourth, I plan to launch them hundreds of feet in the air and watch them explode with a boom of liberty and the colors will rain down in a shower of deregulated free-market capitalism." U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Stand up for your rights Urbandale! Come the 4th, I want to see as many residents shooting off Missouri bought bottlerockets. I want to hear the cracks of blackcats from all around the metro. Let your voices, nay your FREEDOMWORKS be heard. As the great American hero, Jesus, once said, "Yippee Ki Yay mother trucker!"

I feel kinda bad for the cops. SOME of them. The cops who are merely doing their duty and stopping the illegal fireworks I sympathize for--we should be mad at the city council for MAKING the law. I hope that you're not getting too hard a time for this one. It's not easy being a cop.
Now, to you cops who are getting a little over zealous and yelling at kids with sparklers, calm down. You're only going to irritate the locals, and they're irritated enough.

I'm still able to have fun without blowing anything up--but I still feel this is unfair to a lot of people. This is--in my opinion, a way to get money for budgeting city finances. Fine the heck out of people for a popular cause. I'm sure they're raking in the money from fees tonight.

By the way, previous post.'America won its independence from the Germans'. I cracked up pretty hard from your post!

i just dont like it in the neighborhood past 11pm, i have a two year old and dogs and its hard to not be annoyed by the guy trying to be cool when they cant sleep and i gotta be at work at 430am, there is nothing that patriotic about doing it in your yard it is just an excuse. the amish get rumzpriner and the idiots get the fourth of july. i have had to ask people on the block to end it and they basically give the finger even though there are probly more people who wish t would stop too. i will be the first to call the cops if it gets to crazy too late and not because iam a fuddy duddy as someone already posted but because there needs to be a line drawn somewhere.
