Did anyone else see the HUGE light in the sky, Saturday?

I most certainly did at about 7:45.
We were out checking out the stars, in the CLEAR night sky.
We saw this between our home and the mountain.

I searched our news and found nothing.
Called a friend in CT. and I was told it was in the newspaper there.

Remember what I said the Sky was clear NO clouds.

Star Gazers across Connecticut looked up Saturday night and saw something they've never seen before.

A bright light, much bigger than any star, which almost lit up the night sky and then suddenly vanished.

This is a photo of that strange sighting taken in Meriden.

Also curious to folks who saw it over the weekend was the trailing light, as if some kind of tractor beam.

Many think it was a U.F.O., including Jose Barreto of Hartford.

When asked if he was afraid he was going to be abducted by aliens, Barreto laughed, "Not really, but I will stay home."

John Chapman of West Hartford believes the sighting was man-made.

"It was clearly unidentified, but I wasn't particularly scared that we were being invaded," Chapman said.

NASA wants to squash all the speculation.

The space program said the light came from one of its rockets launched Saturday night from Virginia to conduct tests on the Earth's highest clouds.

Still, U.F.O. believers argue that's just a government cover up.

This was one the clearest nights. My home overlooks I believe its called MT weather. The tower is in my direct view.
There was NO NONE zero clouds at the time this occurred. We could see every star in the sky.

My question is WHAT clouds was this launched into?

Does anyone know where it was launched from in VA?
