Is it true a cheerleadind sponsor is interested in the job?

I don't know if a cheerleading sponsor is interested in the job but the parents and the students should get what they want. Is there a vb parent that does not want a coach hired?

Please help get the academics back up to where they were, all I hear is about sports teams and THEY don't win anything big. I wish all sports were banned at Bernie. The town and school would be better off.

I don't think they should be banned, but some people need to get there priorties right.

The basketball team won the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament for only the second or third time in school history last season. They also won the district tournament and advanced to the state quarterfinals. The volleyball team won five state titles on the 1990's. Recent students receiving athletic scholarships to attend college include: Zach Curry, Jenny Eubanks, Tyler Trover, Silas Dill, Marcus Massey. At least three more students will receive athletic scholarships this season. The funding contributed to the athletic program has no impact on the funding contributed to academics. The academics are down because of poor highering decisions made by the previous administration, block scheduling and the previous adminstration's secision to eliminate ACT classes. The new administration is trying to improve academics by eliminating block scheduling. But the teachers, parents and students don't want to improve academics. The research on block scheduling is not good. Read it or just take the word of the adminstrators that have read the research. Either way we will still pay a volleyball coach the same amount next season. I think the two coaches that may be interested in the job are also great teachers If that means anything. They are not PE teachers.

How does hiring a vb coach have a negative impact on academics? Think about all the teaching positions at the school. If you hire one teacher that is a good vb coach do you honestly believe they will do a worse job teaching classes than another teacher would? If there are great teachers available grab them before they get gone. Do we have any experienced teachers interested in leaving their school to come to Bernie? Let's not forget about the funding. Experienced teachers cost more money. I am all for highering any coach or teacher with experience. But sometimes you have to go find them. They don't always walk in the front door on their own.

I hope you have no affiliation with the school. That's a great attitude to have. Let's tell our children we have always been losers so there is no point in trying to do better in the future. Let's just give up. Say what you want about the current and past coaches but one thing they didn't do is give up on the students. Let's hope the school board hasn't given up on our athletes and students. It can always be done. It might take time, sacrifices, money and a little effort bur find a way to do things the right way.

A new coach needs to come from somewhere else, there is just to much history, or baggage, with someone that's at Bernie. Your right though, they need to go out and find the best person for the job. The old admin, was not aggresive enough in hiring. They just wanted to hire there cronies. This was true with teachers and coachers.

Great attitude to have with kids. You have always done bad in math and you always will. Your parents never went to college and you won't. You sister was on a bad vb team and you will be to. Let's hope your not running for school board.

Here is how it works. A good coach is ready to leave her school. But she is unsure if she can find an opening she wants. So it would be a good idea to contact her and find out if she is interested. If she is not interested spread the word about the coaching opening to coaches at other schools. But if you don't contact her and she gets an offer at another school and she takes it you just missed out on your opportunity. There is an advantage to having an opening this early. You have time. Parents you have two principals that have students that will be in the vb program. They should have self-motivation to hire a coach. They should also have motivation to find her a teaching position in their building. If the teacher has a degree in elementary education hire her now and worry about what she will teach later. Has there even been a year when there was not an opening in elementary.

I strongly encourage the vb parents to go talk to every school board member this week. Some of the board members probably won't be excited to see you or intersted in talking to you. But make them listen to what you have to say anyway.

I find it highly coincidental that niether "Get Both" in post #9 nor "Fan" in post # 11 know how to spell the word "hiring". Could it also be that the poor spelling "Retired teacher" in post # 14 is that same person. You carry on quite a debate all by yourself. lol :-)

Possible, but not likely. Could it be that you know who this 3in1 combo person is and you are just trying to cover for them? That would seem more likely than your lame attempt to throw me off.
