cabell hopital

general opinion of surgeons, surgical floor, care at this hospital

I have had nothing but the finest care at Cabell Huntington Hospital. I have personally had three surgeries there, and my family has many others. The surgical staff is fantastic, and the doctors have been extremely kind as well. I must say that the nurses, orderlies, and techs went above and beyond to make my sister and I feel extremely safe and comfortable. They were very knowledgable and helped answer many questions.

I have had similar experiences at St.Marys, except for when having family in the ICU. I have never seen such a poorly ran area as the ICU at St.Marys. Nothing like being about to lose a loved one and listening to some nurse and her fellow co worker talk about their sexual experiences and their experimenting with drugs on the weekend. It was bad enough they were continually talking, but the dark hair girl had such a loud mouth, you could hear her four doors away from her location.

I have had good and bad at both hospitals I watched them take a women at cabell who came in from a ambulance with chest pains and wheeled her in the waiting area where she had a cardiac arrest and I believe she just about died they was more worried about a man who fell in the shower.but over all they are both level 2 trauma centers who rotate days so you pretty much have the same surgens and trauma doctors at both hospitals just different days.My point is at a level 2 center your going to have good care and you cant help people talking if it doesnt affect the care you are recieving then its a minor problem and can be delt with really easy. there is only two level 1 centers in wv and 4 level 2 centers and like I said there are 2 right here in huntington.there both good hospitals over all.

do NOT go to cabell if you can help it!! last time i went, i had a broken bone and when they finally got me in a room there were needle caps and blood on the floor. when i asked them to let me call my parents they refused till the doctor saw me. i was only 17 at the time. luckily the ems let me use their personal cell phone. they are the worst hospital!! they are getting better though.

yes a broken bone is so urgent, forget everyone else and get that person a room. the bood, yeah id be pissed but unless ur dying ur gonna wait

Ive seen people go into shock and almost die because of a broken bone a broken bone for somepeople is very bad depending on your pain tolerance.its just as bad as being shot in some cases..

i've never had anything but good care at Cabell..i was 17 weeks pregnant and very dehydrated and they took me straight back instead of having a wait time. and they have always tried to run things in a timely manner. i have also had 2 operations at that hospital and recieved the most wonderful care both time. that is where i was delivered and where i plan to deliver myself. everyone is going to have a bad experience once in a while but that happens. you should just feel lucky enough to be able to recieve care. think of poorer countries that just have to cope with their illnesses!!

Yes but if your on a topix like this sometimes you have to say things were folks can understand you. some people might not know what triage is so you may have to speak human and not use big words.

Want to see piss poor care, go to hospitals in Southern Illinois. Have yet to see one be able to handle a hang nail. Yes I am a medic so I have been to alot of hospitals in the area. Youre better off calling a med-evac to where you're at and fly you to Evansville, In. or St. Louis area hospitals. Chances are you'll be transfered there anyway.
My stepmother was in Cabel Hospital as well as my step sister late last year. They had no complaints. Yes they are Huntington residents

Anderson sucks, but Memorial in isn't so bad.
