Wow, Soggy Wheaties! The EPA wishes to extend you an offer of employment. Your intuitive method of determining the presence and type of hazardous materials will save Federal, State and Local Governments millions of dollars. With the implementation of your method, we can also do away with the ASTM Certified Laboratory processes and the accredidation process for sample collection, manifests, and laboratories. High Schools, colleges and universitites could eliminate chemistry programs all together.
Landfills that accept the newly dubbed "intuitive" hazardous wastes can just bury it with the rest of the garbage because the intuitive method has confirmed that it is hazardous waste, and there is no need to determine exactly what the hazards are. Federal and state governments could completely re-write the existing hazardous waste regulations to incorporate your fascinating method. Why didn't we think of this before? |

Nice diatribe. The point is moron that YES there are hazardous materials and yes they will have to check which ones that are there, it's just fact that this place was a dumping ground for chemicals for years and I would think that most of the agencies already have reports on it so crawl back in your hazardous hole and have a nice day. |

It seems like the Boro continues to pay for the shortsightedness of a few influential residents.

Why did the boro try to sell the building for $1 and it fell through? Because of the chemicals?

Looks like another try at historic that will cost the people money. Just like the Irwin house and the Smith house it will prove to be a mistake that costs. Please just let those who own decide not allowing the few who wave the flag of history save us

Lisa I think all said the process by which hide were tanned leaves little doubt that there are some serious chemicals possibly lying here. If my memory serves me they may well find a forklift as well as loads of hides that were not processed corectly. If in fact chrome as well as other hazards are found then what extent do things go and costs? Once again we as a boro held onto this for the sake of history only to be increased in disposal costs of what we do not know.It seems as that we hold on but fail to plan to make whole again which finally leads to destruction. |

maybe the can park the historic MMPW rail cars there while the rusting can offset the hazardous unmentionables....
