The Philadelphia experiment is very important. If congress sees that healthy lunches decrease obesity it isn't a far leap from less obesity to fewer heart attacks and diabetes diagnoses, which means less spending on health care.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens at Berkeley now that funding has been cut and a costly program is still in place. How convienent that Ms. Cooper bailed when the money stopped.

i've seen a couple of documentaries about this and it is alarming that kids will drink sodas and eat candy so regularly at school. however, it really starts with parents, they are often the culprits who instill these bad habits.

Interesting - are you saying Cooper is in it for the money? or that she wasn't motivated enough to forge ahead w/o much funding?

This makes sense all around. Better health equals money well spent. It's an investment down the road, too.

See, this is what's going to happen next: spoiled, entitled students demanding gourmet food. Thanks, Alice Waters, you out of touch food snob.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Taurus

There's a certain amount of friction between you and your partner today. This could be really exciting and dynamic, spurring you into fresh adventures together, or it might lead to spats that seem to get more petty as the day wears on. So resist the temptation to get drawn into silly squabbles and instead express today's energy in more positive ways.
