sitting together in our hunting blind 2 yrs ago my husband and i witnessed a full pack of coyotes running through the woods. As we sat there and watched the Alpha Male who was blonde and white his coat shined in the sunlight of the day and we were so amazed at the awesomeness of the moment. This is truly God's Country in all its splendor.

I am reasonably sure that coyotes do 90% of the foul things that wolves get blamed for. Coyotes do not belong...and they are thick. Wolves eat and hunt coyotes...so I find it hard to believe that wolves are too numerous here. Wolves and coyotes are natural enemies. Wolves eat the sick and the weak...cull the deer herd...coyotes just kill to kill...and often do not even stick around to finish their meal. Wolves make a stronger deer herd...coyotes decimate a deer herd. I hate coyotes...but prefer the wolves any day.

One of the main reasons that the coyote population has exploded like it has is that you don't have the trappers like years ago. The "Tree Huggers" saw to that. There used to be a bounty on Coyotes but that is also no longer. Trappers used to be able to keep the number in check, but no longer. There arn't enough wolves to keep the coyotes number reasonable, only trappers were able to do that. We reap what we sow. Same is true with the damage and flooding the beaver do. When I moved to Watersmeet in 1966 there were probobly 20 to 30 trappers that were active. I know of only one right now. If it wasn't for my health, I would still be out there trapping and doing my part to keep the populations in check. On for the good old days.

In the sixties...there were no coyotes. in the seventies, we began to see them. By the eighies, they were the dominant predators in the north woods. They do not belong, and this is not their normal range. They are also very upsetting to the balance of nature. Nothing controls coyote populations effectively...except the wolves.

Wolves control coyotes...wolves are natives...wolves belong. I will take a pack of wolves any day, over the huge number of coyotes cruising the woods.

I respect wolves...and hate coyotes. I still maintain that most of the things that wolves get blamed for, is the work of coyotes. I say give the wolves a chance to reset the correct balance of nature.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Cancer

It's a sensational Full Moon in your sign, combined with a lunar eclipse! Holy cow! However, once you accept that even the best-laid plans could go awry today, you'll find that life is a lot easier to cope with. Try your hardest to take everything in your stride, even if you do have to rethink an arrangement at the eleventh hour. At least it's never a dull moment! Do your best not to let the tensions of the day spoil what promises to be some spectacular New Year's Eve celebrations. It will be an opportunity to let off steam. Have fun!
