Can anyone help? My neighbors live in between my house and my parents. We both have our houses for sale, but no one is interested because of our neighbors yard. There is trash everywhere. It is blowing into our yard, our gardens, and into the pastures across the highway. We have recently found roaches. They mowed their yard maybe, maybe 3 times last summer. I am concerned about snakes. They also have dogs that are not kept inside a fence. I have called the Highway Dept, Keep Arkansas Beautiful, the County Judge office, The Sheriff's Office and the Health Department. No one has done anything. I am also upset because the Highway department came to my house today and told me my "House for Sale" sign has to be moved 40 feet from the center line on the highway, Yet no one has said anything about their trash. Any suggestions? This has been going on for over a year, and our land that has been in the family for years is depriciating.

....maybe you should go speak with the inhabitants of the property. If they say they are not able to do it, suggest that you would be happy to do it for them since it's you who find it offensive. The people who live between you and your parents may be glad to have you do it for them. Obviously it isn't important to them whether or not their yard is up to your standards--after all, this is Arkansas...this is the Ozarks. If it is important enough to you, it seems you would be glad to do the necessary work to improve your personal situation. Or you could be judgemental, unkind, and vengeful by calling the health and sheriff's departments in an attempt to force them to do the work you deem necessary. I doubt, seriously, your land is losing value. My mother-in-law has been tring to sell her ten-year old house for the past three uears. I'ts perched above White River near Cotter. Excellent lawns and beautiful homes surround her place. Don't take your frustrations out on your neighbor. Those people may be in a position to watch your back one day. Maybe your place isn't worth quite as much as you hoped it would.
Hope that helps!

Does anyone know if people are moving more into fox, and Or Mtn,view???.Would you say property value are going UP or DOWN? Justeece, I kinda agree with Luther about maybe going to meet with your neighbor FIRST to see if anything could be done about the yard.It maybe something yall can workout on a more peaceful note.It might be something they can't help .It can't hurt anything. You may can offer to pay for it yourself,I know thats something you don't want to do ,they may not can pay for it themselves.Be KIND about it first before you get mad.((ever heard of the term "you get more with HONEY then you do with SALT")....I did hear something on talk radio awile back about this same problem and they told them pretty much the same thing , to try that first. GOODLUCK.P.S. let us know what happens. We might be in the same situation one day.If I hear of anything else I'll let you know.

Hope that helps! I suggested going over to their house to help clean it up but then they will expect us to clean it up all the time. Talk about vengeful, These people slapped sent a threating letter to my mother typed by a lawyer, Saying that she was saying things about her,(which are true) Her son did take a knife to school and pull it on a 7 year old in front of my neice. I don't care how poor you are. My mom grew up in the smokey mountains poor as dirt but that is no excuse to be just out right nasty. I wonder if they could be sued for the depreciation of our homes. The realator told my mom that was the main complaint of people looking at the house. I wanted to leave a note on her door but I'm not going to get a letter from a lawyer for tresspassing.

Hi Cher, Well I agree with the Honey thing, but like I replied to the last post I don't want a law suit for tresspassing after what she did to my mom. If you come to Mountain View on Highway 9 you will notice there house on the right hand side of the road. about 7 miles from town. it may look better now that the grass is growing up around it.

My Parents are moving up the hill to his cousins house who is ill, He has no one to take care of them so my mom, my dad and my 2 neices that live with them will be leaving and I will be buying there house, if all goes well. I will still have the same nieghbors though.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I know I may sound bitter, and it is embarrassing when people think that I live there. I may muster up enough courage to go over there and say something. Wish me luck and I will keep you informed
Thanks again

Thanks again Lots of luck with this. Maybe it will work out. Most people are good people but there is always a chance for a bad one in the bunch. I truly understand your situation and sounds like you and your family take pride in the appearance of your property. It can be very disheartening when others do not take as much pride as you do. Maybe a little offer to assist will help. Again, lots of luck, keep us informed.

Try getting up a patition and see if you can get the ones that keep there yards kept up to sign it. We have some like that across the road from us and were trying to get something done. We live in a housing developement and there are rules here and they are not going by them so we are trying to get something done. Write the governer and anyone else you can think of.

Why don't you call a landscape company and pretend that you are them? oh yeah that's right you might be supporting illegal immigrants. sorry

Thanks for your comments (at least the ones that were actually helpful) I believe it has been taken care of. I'm glad I had a place to vent.

Glad it has been taken care of and hope it stays clean. That area of Arkansas is so nice it is a shame to see people not take care of the property.
