Right, Wal-Mart and environmental concerns...A couple of years ago they switched packaging on their large size bags of dog food from a paper to a woven sort of plastic. When I called their customer service line to ask if the bag could be recycled, the woman checked all over and finally told me that if I unravelled the woven threads, then it could be recycled (or something to that effect). Obviously she wasn't suggesting that anyone actually do this and obviously I try to buy my pet supplies elsewhere now.

Anything Walmart wants to do is great with me they have caused lower prices for everyone.

Along with the car, line me up with a gallon of emerald gloss paint, a dozen eggs, gallon of milk and some ring dings and meet me at the checkout.

Wal-Mart has its Good Wal-Mart side and its Evil Wal-Mart side. This is a proposal from the Good side. It sounds like a good idea. Any environmental initiative from Wal-Mart is a good thing, because they operate with such extraordinary volume. They had a goal in 2007 to sell something like 1 million CFL lightbulbs, and I think they even exceeded it. Also, they are supposedly now only selling detergent in double concentrated form or higher, which should save significant amounts of plastic packaging and fuel for shipping, etc. So these things do add up. Now if they could only treat the workers better....

Hey I'm all about Walmart they save me a bunch of money...my they continue to prosper!

On its face, this does sound to be a creative and ambitious program - but these ideas are hardly feasible, near term anyway. For now one has to look at this as something of a PR ploy. But if this action eventually proves out to be representative of a shift in Wal-Mart’s mission, my view of the company could change.

It most likely will be made in China. Like the rest of their crap

i really dont think it would be a good idea for wal-mart to sell any sort of vehicle. they are a big enough company as it is. it is not their job to sell cars, thats what car dealerships are for. If wal-mart opens up a section to sell cars that means that they could potentially putting people out of their jobs.

Since Walmart never seems to have enough staff, how do a get a new car through the self check-out line?

exactly slick. chinese hybrid knock-offs of other designs. guess what- they'll work about as well as anything else one might buy at wal-mart- not good.
imagine all these chinese-made, lead painted, flimsy, wobbling, S-L-O-W beaters on the roads. no heat or A/C, batteries falling out the bottoms, plugs not sized properly for the outlets, doors and hoods fit and finish nowhere near closely alligned. you get what you pay for. |

+1. And good luck getting warranty work done. Oh, and I'm sure people are beating down the door to finance a car through Wal-Mart; that way, not only can they treat their employees like slaves, but they can OWN consumers too! I could just imagine some free-ride senior citizen or 16 year old pimple-faced spaz trying to sell someone a car. |

Sure, as if the current car dealers will allow walmart to sell cars too. And those walmart sales people will also sell you walmart shoppers 10 miles of extension cords to get the electric car home

I don't know how many other states may still have these antiquated laws on the books, but in MN it's illeagal to sell a car on Sunday, along with any vehicles, all strong alcohol (we also have a rediculous thing called 3.2 beer here), and some other products and services. The rule applies so strongly that car dealerships cannot even be open to do service on Sundays, and any place that sells motorcycles and parts cannot even sell parts or accessories on Sundays. I'm thinking that the 24/7 Walmarts would either have to not sell cars in this state, or they'd have to close on Sundays.
However I'm all for electric vehicles. There's a dealership in Ottawa IL that sells a pretty good brand of all electric low-speed vehicles. Next time I'm in IL I'm headed down there to check one out. That said I don't think that a discount retailer has any business selling cars. I still don't even think they should have groceries. |

I think the time has come for retailers (not dealers) to sell cars. I'm tired of car salesmen! Wal-Mart will level the playing field. I usually am not a fan of Wal-Mart but I like what they're doing on this!

Don't come here on a Sunday to buy a car, you can't sell cars in Illinois either on Sundays, |
