Carla Hughes' Murder Trial Delayed until Summer

I have known Carla Hughes all my life and the Carla I know didn't do that. There have been so many bad things said about Carla when people really don't know her. Carla won't hurt a fly!

I have known Carla Hughes for a while, I have always admired things about her and how she carried herself. She is known to be a much outgoing person. She has always been in pageants, talent shows,and many organizations that shows how much of a great! person she is. Carla didn't do this crime and does not deserve the time.

i went to school with carla also jr. to high school carla seemed to be the perfect daughter but she had the best two wonder parents also great role models.whatever happens my heart goes out to both families i just hope carla didnt do a senseless act such as this.i will continue to pray for both families.hope something good comes out of this greenville still supports her.

yeah ok one thing we all have in common is we went to school with her ...so what!!! yeah i knew her from jr high and high school as well i even attended classes that her dad was over and some p.e. classes that her mom as over. One thing i can say about mr. and mrs hughes is that they loved that girl with ever fiber of their soul...they did everything under the sun to give her everything she wanted and needed. now i just found out out this from another classes mate this past week because i moved from mississippi when i finished school GO 1998!! the point is this....Yes...to those who knew carla on a friendship level she was nice and wouldn't hurt a fly but to those she didn't know she came off as a spoil,cocky,brat and to some extent they were correct cause she did have it in her but there was alot of things about her that was geniune. I have read alot of blogs on other sites about her and what people said about her makes me feel like they were jealous of the girl back in the day but one thing that we must realize is people change!!! that girl might has SNAPPED and did this ...people change....there is no telling what was going on in her head...love is a powerful thing you guys....then on that same note she might be protecting the guy that she loves...either way it goes...i was shocked when q told me that she was in jail for this crime not the carla that preformed at talent shows and was a leader among the students at our school...am still in shock

You guys know that Carla was nice but when it came to a guy she got real stupid. I know Carla an Avis. Avis is the one that wouldn't hurt a fly. Love is Blind

What's worse...is that these misstatements and improper syntax is common for MS bloggers. Please people, I implore you to use spell-check and look over your comments before you post them. From Tammy's post, "is that these misstatements and improper syntax is common for" - that is should be ARE!!!! Check your own subject-verb agreement before you spotlight the grammatical incorrectness of others. By the way, yes, MS schools do teach grammar.

Adam and the Woman were created perfect, lived in perfect environment, spent time daily in Bible class with the Creator and yet sinned. One generation later from perfectness murder occured.

Sadly, it seems that the people in my hometown are more concerned about Carla than the fact that two people were murdered. I too am from Greenville and like Carla. But I wasnt't there and can't say she did not do it or vice versa. what I can say is have compassion for the girl who wa murdered. And is it possible that Carla murdered Avis. Be for real. You know its possible. Greenville get real

I've known Carla basically all my life. Never really got to know her. I really didn't get a good vibe from her. I've heard a lot of rumors while in school and yes when it came to men, she was known to get stupid, that I can confirm. But hearing what has happened, even though she never treated me good- I still felt sorry for her. She couldn't have been too happy, even though she was in all these pageants, exposed to all these great things and people. You never know people or what they are going through. So instead of being like ha ha, I'll just pray for her. I will especially pray for the Banks family. This incident is senseless and heartbreaking.

BAD Bad Bad deal!

My heart goes out to the Banks' family. I'm so sorry they had to lose their daughter this way. Carla let that man pump her head up into killing that innocent woman, he also helped her. He told Carla to kill the woman and to get out of sight then he called the police to make it seem like he discovered the dead body.

I am a Vicksburg Native and I feel for Avis' parents and family. She was a darling child and would've been a great mother. Carla took those things away now she must go away and face her punishment. They way she killed Avis took a wicked heart. She actually cut her throat after shooting her. I don't care how Carla was 'back in the day'. It was her actions in late 2006 that will determine whether she lives the rest of her life in jail or die.

I have known Carla and her family all my life. On the outside looking in, there were a lot of things said about her family and the way she was raised. However, I know that she knew better than to be in such a predicament that she is in today. My heart goes out the Banks family, and I cannot imagine what they are going through emotionally, physically, spiritually... Murder is not justified, for it is God's ultimate decision, not ours, to take the life of someone else. IF Carla knows more than she is revealing, I pray that she speaks up immediately. I pray that whatever is shielding her from telling the truth and providing closure to this hideous act against humanity releases her. For, there is no way that she can sit in jail and allow her own child be without his mother, her own mother be without her child, and nonetheless know what happened to the Bank's child and grandchild and allow that to fester.
It doesn't matter what she did in high school, the awards she received, what equestrian enthusiast medals she may have won, and whatever else she did that was positive. Regardless as to whether society holds her accountable and blatantly slanders her name for what happened in 2006, she needs prayer. The Banks family needs prayer, and we need to pray for each other, because nobody had the slightest clue that Carla would be capable for the crime of which she has been accused. Therefore, we should be mindful that everyone has the potential to "lose it," and be in her shoes. With this in mind, we should pray for each other...that no man, no woman, no objects, will separate us from the love of God, so much that we would kill our brother or sister. That's just plain wrong. I hope that justice is served, and that the Banks family finds solace in Jesus Christ. For, only He has the final say on all our lives. We need to leave the petty stuff alone, and this situation makes it evident that material things don't mean a thing in contributing to total happiness....It seems that God just used Carla to show the world that lesson...

Well to be honest Tammy; your sentence was incorrect as well. It is "every single one". Thanks! It's not that grammar isn't taught in MS but when blogging, people usually just type rather than little for a damn grammar coach. We are talking about Carla not grammar. Thanks. By the way I am from Mississippi and highly educated.

I had the priveledge to meet and get to know carla for a long time. I just want to say that mt heart does go out to Avis and her unborn child. I have two children of my own. But what no one mentioned was Carla's little boy. He is a beautiful little man, and has been without his mother for almost 3 years now. He will never understand this. Carla is a wonderful, spiritual person. I am so proud that I had the chance to become a close friend. I believe she did not do it, but it is not up for us to decide. Everyone has their own opinions and always will, but God is the only true judge. I will pray for her and her family everyday...

Tammy we are not talking about grammar here. We are talking about a person that's fighting for her life. Tammy I have a B.S. degree highly educated. I guessed you're not. I can tell you were one of Carla's haters back in the day uh?

I am also a Greenville native, and I knew Carla most of her life. The truth of the matter is, none of us know her state of mind, now or in the past. Anyone can appear perfect from the outside, and be broken inside. Sometimes when you overindulge your children, they continue to think they will have whatever they want, at any cost, even when they enter adulthood. My prayers go out to Carla's family and Avis' family. I hope justice is served, and the truth prevails.

This a sad story about very bad choices. Hopefully - truth will come to light. I pray for the Hughes and the Banks family. Hopefully one day the Banks will be able say justice was reached for their daughter - and hopefully not at Carla's expense.

To much evidence is stacked up against Carla. Come on her cousin's gun. He turned it in himself too. You guys and sit here and talk her up all you want, but the truth of the matter is that the girl had problems.
